View Full Version : Quick red light camera question...

I searched the forums but I can't find exactly what I am looking for. Last night I was following someone and braked too late for the intersection, he made it but I didn't. I didn't go through, but the camera did flash. I did enter the intersection but I didn't exit it (I backed up after I stopped). What worries me is that the camera flashed twice. I'm just wondering if the cops have to prove you actually ran the red light, or is just entering the intersection enough to get the ticket?

Don't the camera's take 2 pictures? One upon entry and one on exit?

Yes, that is my understanding, but if I didn't exit, why would it have taken 2 pictures? I am hoping the second pic shows my car didn't go through and they throw it out :dunno:

I think you should be okay.

Yeah you should be fine. They are timed to flash twice, so if you did stop then you won't appear in the 2nd picture right?

If you didn't go through the intersection, the second picture will show an empty spot (or the car in front of you).

They flash twice regardless, I would say your chances are very very slim of actually getting a ticket. They move the camera's around X number of locations but they don't have enough camera's for every location so alot of the time you just get the flash and no ticket because there isn't a camera there.

one would think that the flash is only turned on if there's a camera put there

Yeah but thats not the case. Every intersection doesn't have a camera operational in it at a given time.
