Colorados are inline 5's...theres a stock engine with 175hp or an optional with 220

I believe it is an inline 5.

If the Sport is as gutless as the 4 door Colorado that I drove I would hope you don't mind the lack of power.

colorado/canyon both have a 2.8L I4 with 175hp stock. optional engine is a 3.5L I5 with 225 hp

V6 - 6 cylinder (3 cylinders side by side)

Inline 5 - 5 cylinders in a row

Tell your bro to check out the new Tacoma's.

;) In what? Price? Yeah they are cheaper I guess.

HP - Tacoma
Torque - Tacoma
Weight - Tie

However that isnt even the best part about owning Toyota.

Reliability - Tacoma
Resale Value - Tacoma

I agree, but look at the price difference between the two, I think the Colorado is a sweet deal for what they cost

No doubt. I just don't think that a statement like "Chevy owns most of Toyota Trucks anyway." should be allowed to fly without comment lol

It's kinda like comparing a pony to a race horse. A pony is a great deal money wise compared to a race horse ... until you need to win a race. Or until you realize the pony is prone to breaking legs and needs to be put down or sold as glue after only a few years. ;) lol Jus' kiddin'.

GM owns shares in the Toyota Trucks Division.

They got tired of being beat by imports in sales, so they bought partial ownership.

The colorado/canyon pickup is based on a Isuzu platform. So much for being a domestic.

Toyota's trucks are domestic though ... to the states anyway. If memory serves ... California, Indiana and a new plant in Texas by 2006.

Not that I am doubting you ... okay ... I am doubting you. When was this purchase? Toyota and GM have collaborated many times in the past that I know of but .... I didnt know that that GM owns a signifigant portion of Toyota stock. They have a joint venture called NUMMI that produces Corollas and Vibes .... cars.

The only information on what car companies own of other car companies was at this blog. I could find no further information of the purchase of Toyota stock by GM (didn't really look that hard though).

I've been wrong before ... lord knows I've been wrong before (like that one "woman" I picked up in that bar that one time *shudder*;)), please let me know where I can read up on it.
