wow! cool...
i hope these aren't fish where the dad eats his babies

Actually both parents are guarding the babies. If a baby swims away, one of the parents chases after it, sucks it up, swims back, and spits it out! I was worried when I saw it 1st, but now it's funny.

And at night, the parents herd the babies into a cave they made w/ gravel and orniments

That is COOOOOL! Good parents!

I used to have Guppies and they had lots of cute little babies too.
They looked just like yours. A few got eaten up though.

As usual, nice pics Ekliptix!! How long have you had convicts?? Even if the parents did eat the fry, they still breed like crazy. It's really cool watching cichlids care for their fry. I was at Big Al's a couple years back and the had a pair of cichlids (can't remember which kind) that spawned and the store keepers didn't even know about it! Hahaha! Needless to say, the parents would chase off ANY fish that would come near the fry

Anyone know what kind of fish these are?

They are mean little suckers, killed 2 other fishes...

Suckers (pleco) can be aggressive at night. The regular ones are really ugly too IMO.

Plus the fact that they can grow up to a foot long (maybe more) and if they don't get vegetable matter in their diet their shit gets really loooooooooooong and stringy, like a long strand of brown unbreakable spaghetti :barf:

Yea I didnt' like them at first because of it, and they were kinda retarded. They'd kinda just float upside down for a while like they were dead, then start swimming around a little.

I like them now though, they look really happy!

That's okay. Maybe your snakehead will eat them when it grows up! :D

I'd really like to change my 33gal into and african tank using small river gravel or sand and lots of volcanic rock.

kind of like this

Africans calm down once there are enough of them in the tank for them to focus on getting food instead of being territorial.

i used to have cichlids, the mouth-brooding kind, it was awesome when they had babies and i had to open the mouths and watch the fry swim out...

amazing though yeah i used to Own a salt water crab, just one and the artificila Salt water stuff plus his feed was hella expensive, i think the tank treatment stuff was like 80 bucks a box, he was cool though, i started with a batch of 8, he then one by one killed them off, well the males anyway, then he Fertilized all the Lady crabs but they died becuase they needed an artificial Surf to release there eggs, good thing though each one of those suckers can lay like 3-400 baby crabs, it would have been Crazy

That's what i got, have a couple hermit crabs, some snails, a lobster(pinchy:D )m clownfish, damsel and coral beauty. They are hella expensive, so far i've spent over $500 on this tank and this is only 20 gallons :banghead:. Ah well they look so :bigpimp:

"Under the sea, under the sea. There'll be no accusations, just friendly crustaceans under the sea."
I want a big saltwater tank with some atlantic rock lobsters and alaskan king crabs

Seriously though, I'm into reptiles now. Can't afford both :(

Sucker fish are AGGRESSIVE!!!!! It killed all my other fish!!!! One day it didn't even completely destroy one, it just beat the crap out of it and the thing would float sideways, took awhile for it to die.

I have a pleco in with 6 angel fish, a flying fox, and a few neon tetras. He does nothing but eat and hide from the other fish, I have yet to see him go after any of my other fish. He is easily the biggest fish in my tank too.....
