Found this on another forum.

For 2005, Mitsubishi Motors UK took the wraps off the fastest saloon car ever produced by a major manufacturer. Built to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Mitsubishi’s entry into the UK market, the new Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ400 will be built in a limited edition run of just 100 cars, and is available to order now priced £46,999 (approx. $85,000).
The new model is based on the Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ320 and was developed in the UK by Mitsubishi Motors UK’s motor sports department, in association with tuning specialists Rampage, Owen Developments and Flow Race Engines. Together, they modified the Lancer’s legendary 2.0-litre turbocharged engine so that it now produces a mighty 405 bhp and 355 lb-ft of torque.

This is enough to propel the FQ400 from 0-60 mph in an incredible 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 175 mph. It is a performance that even some of the world’s most exotic supercars struggle to match. The £330,000 Porsche Carrera GT, for example, requires 3.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62 mph, while the ultra-exclusive Pagani Zonda needs 3.7 seconds. The BMW M3 – hitherto the benchmark ‘everyday supercar’ – takes 5.3 seconds to achieve the same feat.

If you guys want a review on it, Top Gear did one. They did complain about a lot of things about it, but it is faster than a Gallardo around their track, but say the older EVO is actually a better buy.

95% of the fun, without all the hassles. Never knew that there were so many different classes of the regular Evo 8 for sale.

According to JC on Top Gear, clutch is shit, bumpy ride, does 4 MPG, and needs to be maintained every 4000 miles. But the worst part is the turbo lag. Unless there's constant boost, you're not going anywhere.

:werd: They aired it here in the UK last Sunday. Not a bad car, but some shitty old ass station wagon, can take off faster at a red light than the EVO (due to Turbo Lag), but it does cath up (obviously). It also stalls every time you try to pull away from the lights. :thumbsdow That episode was good one, it beat not the Gallardo, but the Murcielago (on the track only)!!

From BBCs Top Gear:

EVO v Lambo

So, you want to drive fast but your pocket money won't stretch to a Lamborghini. Well, what if we told you there was a cheaper option? It's the Evo VIII. It costs an admittedly high £47,000 and it stalls every single time you try and pull away from traffic lights making you look quite daft. Still, in terms of bang for buck, it doesn't get much better; the Evo keeps up with the Lambo, and if you want to save a few pounds you could get the more basic Evo rather than the FQ400 we tested.

well it didn't BEAT the Murcielago, it kept up with it. I was going by the track times posted up.
