I got nailed last night for two tickets worth almost $500 by some ass of a cop who must be trying to meet his quota. I'm wondering if i'll have any chance fighting them?

I was turning right onto Barlow northbound by that mohawk (i think) near casino calgary. It was icy as hell out and i came up a little quick on the turn. I realized that if i kept on the brake i would have ended up in the middle of barlow so instead i slowly made the turn into the shoulder merge-lane without coming to a complete stop. of course the cop saw me do this and pulled me over and ticketed me $287 for failing to stop on a red. Would i have any grounds to fight this based on weather conditions? I feel like i did the safest thing in the situation.

second when he asked for my lic. and reg. he came back and said that the insurance slip was for last year. I was positive that i had the new slip in the vehicle somewhere but i could not find it for the life of me. ticket=$172. Then today i went to look again and found it wedged under the passenger seat. I'm pretty sure i'm f'd on this one because i didnt produce it at the time but i thought i'd ask anyway.

These tix couldnt come at a worse time and i definately dont have the $$ to pay pointts. Should i try to fight them? Thanks

Well as for grounds based on weather conditions. They will just say you were driving unsafe for the road conditions, so its still your fault.

The ticket is with cps so this shouldn't be a problem. Just go into the court building checked off on your ticket and set an appointment (earlier the better) through the front desk. Go on the date of the appointment and ask the court representative what they can do for you in the way of the ticket. From my experiences they've been nice guys and want to see you get as much off as possible. Just explain your situaton and be honest. You will probably loose 2-3 demerit points and $100 off the red light ticket but i'm not entirely sure about the liscence and registration ticket, you may be SOL on that one. Feel free to ask anymore questions, good luck with the ticket.

I drive that intersection every day, and today it was at least a 15 foot stopping distance at 40km/h.. now my winters are not the best, but that road is slick. They don't gravel it enough, and big trucks all day long + good amount of snow makes it very unsafe. CPS is there all the time, enforcing that stop before going onto barlow. If you didnt stop at all, then they had a right to pull you over. Fight the tickets of course, especially the insurance one.. I recieved that one and it was only $35 and I still didnt pay it..

cool thanks guys...im gonna wait the 10 days and head down and try to negotiate both tickets. I guess that's my best option.

one thing im wondering...should i try to argue both tickets at the same time (with the same CP) or should i go on two different days and try to plead each case separate?

I don't think you'll be too successful in fighting the no registration one. I've been successful in either reducing my tickets or getting no demerits on all my tickets (and some of the things I've done are pretty bogus but they were still reduced) except for the registration ticket. I had the reg in the car as well and found it later but I was SOL when I tried to get off of it.
Might as well plead together because I doubt you're going to get off on it.

Do em both at once, its a major major pain in the ass. I'd go at about 7:45 (even though the doors don't open until 8:30) because it lines up before it even opens. They don't look down on you for having 2 tickts at once, considering i listened to a guy fight his driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without proper plates, wreckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to produce a license tickets all at once.

I got a similar ticket but for failing to produce insurance, and He dropped it to the old fine and it was a pretty good discount.
