1.8L talon

im looking at a talon tonight and im wondering what you guys' imput would be. its a 91 5spd in good condish and they want $3000. It about 160000 on the body, and has a 1.8L engine just put into it which has about 30k on it. i realize this is the smallest engine the talon comes with, and im wondering if it will actually have any balls to it at all, or am i just wasting my money by starting with a smaller engine. im pretty sure i dont want the turbo engine, (since im looking for the talons in the early 90's and many of their turbos have already been driven hard). also are there many mods that can be done to the 1.8L, since from what iv seen so far, there isnt all that many. thanks everyone :)

I agree, you can find 1st gen talons what havent been driven too hard, but it taked a while to find one. the 1.8 will just be like driving a civic, powerwise

yeah, thats sorta what i thought. from the stuff iv looked up, i figure im going to keep looking for at least the 2.0L non turbo ES, and if i can find a non roasted tsi, ill look into that.

i think that the other non turbo motors dont really have much mods to be done:dunno:

i know theres a guy whose selling his talon, best maintained...has a rebuilt motor with forged pistons...juss wondering if u wanna go and take a look...u wont be disapointed

mostly cuz im not comletely familiar with doing work on cars, especially work with turbos, cant that get expensive?:dunno:

work + cars= expensive

Go for the turbo, alot easier to squeeze more power out of those, and definately cheaper than getting the same power out of an NA engine.

that talon is prolly all the way out there in calgary tho, eh? cuz i kno there is a decent amount of cars in decent shape out there, but there's alot less here in winnipeg. they are either beat to shit or over priced. either way, if anyone knows of a good deal or any more opinions of what i should do, im completely open t ideas. thx
