Welcome to the official S13 thread. Like the G2 Integra thread except better :D haha jk

A thread which will be dedicated to one of Japan's greatest FR creations, the 240sx/180sx/200sx and Silvia. Primarily focused on the S13 chassis, but welcome to people with S12's, 14's and 15's.

Basically a place where one may talk to other S13 enthusiasts to learn more about their car, discuss problems they may have, find out about new parts which have become available, or just chat. The possibilities are endless, and since the majority of Beyonders are in Calgary, we can always meet in person through cruises or events to discuss and show off every aspect of these sweet machines :)

If enough interest is taken, the thread may become a useful information resource for anyone with an S13, or someone wanting to get one. On that note, I think I speak for almost every S13 owner when I say I don't want to be answering "how much $$ does an sr20 swap cost" every day.

Anyways, I guess we'll see if this takes off, or if it flops. Post pics of your S13 if you want, give some tuning tips, etc.

Thanks:thumbsup:
Andrew

I have one too.....

Let me introduce myself.

I'm Andrew, I currently own my fourth and fifth Nissan. An 86 maxima and an 89 240 fastback. I've spent the last 8 months or so slowly assembling my 240 with an sr20 in my backyard. Drove it for 3 weeks, then put it away for winter. Over winter I'm gathering more parts to dress it up a little, then I'll be on the streets in spring along with all you other S13 guys.

its because megan racing is still that "look they made that so im gonna copy it and use different materials so its cheaper and change the color" type of company. i know a few workers from the company and i been getting discounts on their junk and some free stuff too mainly gauges...so far i can say that the gauges they have are impressive for generic..hard to see during the day, but very pretty colors at night lol megan racing is getting up there but its still too soon to rely on their crap cuz taiwanese brand car products have kinda bad names so far kinda like korean car makers....

lol 'pop'. I know people who have had them for 3 years...there pretty durable if you know how to use them. Meaning not having track dampning settings on for the street.

Flexs lick a nut, spring rate blows.

lol thats why i said flex is good for street...the spring rate is low enough for it. i been in a s14 with them...it was pretty decent for daily comfort

i had a fellow s13 that had it on 16 setting (lowest soft dampening) and it freaking poped on him when he was backing out of his driveway..

i currently have mine set on 16 so it will be bearable on the street... my freaking dampening clicker on one of the coilovers already broke fawk!

before I get coilovers I may just get springs and shocks.
I was leaning towards some tein s-tech springs but they only lower 1.5 in the front and 1.2 in the rear. What other good springs would you guys recommend for a 2" or more drop?

My cars been stalling alot while its in neutral braking/coasting towards a stop while applying brake for some reason....once I shift into neutral..the RPM just drops straight to 0 and sometimes it stutters but other times it just dies...sometimes I have to actually rev to keep it from dieing and ppl beside me think I'm beefing with them...

Anyone experience the same thing?Happens periodically...

Hey, im Greg and I am in between S13's.

My old one was a damn fun car. Here is my cost breakdown for the SR20DET install done at Autodream August 2003.

Engine 3500 (engines are definitely cheaper now)
Labor 1000
Auto to Manual swap 800
Downpipe 300
SMIC 600

Total 6200

Car 1400

Grand Total 7600 for a decently quick 240.

Upgraded performance parts were:
Greddy E-Manage
Turbo back 3" exhaust
255lph fuel pump
Granger valve boost controller

All tuning was done at Lightspeed Innovations in Red Deer.

My car put down 216whp and 213tq at 10psi. Ran a 14.7 @ 90.26 mph.

Anyone considering doing this swap should do it. Such a fun car to drive. It was killed on Nov. 22nd, but a new project is already in the works. By February I should have a 240 breathing that sweet turbocharged air again...

Yeah the swap is definitely worth it. Nice breakdown of costs Greg, Sr's go for about 1g less now;)

My Latest mod: believe it or not......I lost 40kg (approx 80lbs) by doing this, mind you I had some misc garbage sitting in the trunk when I weighed the car the first time, can't have been anything over 15lbs though. She now weighs 1290kg :)

Sprayed on some truck bed liner, so it looks clean and I can always throw something in the back. The reason I put the side panels back on was mostly for aesthetic reasons....and comfort level. Thing sounds like a fawking washing machine when driving on water:nut:

Yeah just the back, everything behind the front seats.....I wanted to leave the front stock.....again mostly for comfort reasons....and the girlfriend. I did my weighing at the truckstop on highway 2, I doubt it's that accurate but it gave me the general idea.

Oh and that weight is with me in it, another 180lbs easy.

oooo my kind of thread! yea no doubt can't wait to see the car come spring time max, hopefully my CA will be able to hold pace with it by that time:burnout:
BTW is that guy who crashed on deerfoot still parting out his blue silvia? I had my deck installed in the car the other day, and when i finally saw the "install" the next morning in the light....THE F*CKERS SPLIT MY TRIM PANEL!! I swear serves me right for taking it to future shop, but since i was out of work for the day due to cold weather they were the only ones who were able to do it that day and i wanted to get something done.
The plastic trim surrounding the heat/stereo controls and the stick shift is what I'm looking for, and I made it quite clear to them that it's a RHD car and when I FIND the panel, they are paying for it + hassle charge. lol the manager was like trying to tell me it might not have been their installers, but i mean come on....I got the car back at 8pm, go home park it....wake up the next morning in the light... :whipped:

sooo pissed....oh and by the way what the hell was nissan thinking with those stock speakers....sounds like a dying cat:D

86max
12-08-2004, 09:39 AM
HAHA:werd: The speakers = t3h 5uck

That sucks about your trim panel, they probably cracked it while pulling it off. I have a couple LHD ones laying around but no RHD, sorry:(

I've had my trim panel off so many times, so I just broke off the two clips in the middle part, makes for easy install/removal and looks the same. It was so hard trying to find a replacement for my original one(someone had painted it white), that I ended up airbrushing one back to it's original color.

Gotta love the interior on these cars  So modern for it's time. The tweed is a little tacky though.

Maybe one of you 240 owners out there can help me out with this...

Lately I've been having some problems with my headlights. Normally they pop up when you turn on the lights and retract when turned off. However for the past week or so, they seem to work at times, and not at others. I've manually turned them up a few times, then they might work for a day or so, then they'll retract and won't pop up again. Any ideas to what this might be? I thought it might be a loose connection somewhere, but can't seem to find anything. Can't understand why they work intermittently... Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm getting a little frustrated already turning them up manually already...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Nope.... why?

project240: Check your fuse box first. The problem might not be a fuse (I'm not sure), but good to have a look first anyway. Then check the headlight assembly to see if any cables are loose/cut. Hopefully someone with better info will post.

Don't worry, the kouki 180sx bumper is on the list, well the gp sports replica anyway. With sides and rear of course. Car should be all dressed up by spring, I just wanted the mechanical stuff out of the way first. To fawking cold outside to be doing that shit.

fucker

It sits just at the right height to take the heads off those gophers that stand up in the middle of the road. Any lower and my intercooler would be a big mess:barf:

Heh.. I don't have any other wheels right now. I could use a set of the later spoke-style 15" stock rims if you know of any of those for sale!

I actually have a set of these that I'd like to part with.
They have brand new winter rubber on them, with only 2 months use.

Let me know if you're interested.

Here is my 300zx (z31). I am doing the same thing but all around. I am also stitch welding all the seams and it will be painted black with a custom roll cage. My motor is also being built right now with a blitz built ct-26. I am going to be running a .040 over bore vg33. So about 3.4 litres with 20 psi. Should rip I lost over a hundred pounds for sure on this "mod".

Sorry I was looking at the first page and saw people chipping their crap out, forgot this was the s13 only thread and posted my car. Maybe move it to the proper section like general or rides or something
