I like that new BMW side marker thing. come to think of it, i wonder if they will actually be stolen..i can see people prying that little side marker off.

u gota be kidding! that thing is the lamest and tackiest thing ever! im disappointed that a classy manufacturer like bmw would put such crap on their cars...some might even call it ricey...

and as for the rest of the car, the z4 is just plain UGLY (looks like a saturn) and not too performance oriented either..

I know that the Z4 isn't that great looking of a car and it just doesn't look right from any angle that I try to look at it but I test drove it a week and a half ago and I was really amazed  .
Maybe it's the fact that that was the first time I've ever driven a BMW in my life but now I know why everyone likes them so much. I bagged that car and when I made sharp turns the car just sticks to the road unlike my SLK which feels like it's going to flip. It feels so light and drives very sporty. I test drove the 3.0 L and although it has more horsepower (225hp vs 215hp) my car still felt faster from a dead stop probably because it has more torque (217lbs vs 229). But what do I know :dunno:

All I can say is that I'm very impressed with BMW's. They rock

Although I really love the way the Z4 drives (much more than my car) I don't think I would choose one over an SLK because I don't like the style and design of that car.

Yeah, I'd much rather have an SLK, i saw you driving today, again!!! Geez, it's like you follow me around or something... (even though you were travelling opposite direction)...

I don't like the z4 at all, huge change from what bmw was, I don't like it. Also I see it as more of a girls car.

You should drive one sometime.
Oh, you need to know how to drive 6sp since they don't come in automatics. ;)

S2000 for sures........

The front end styling of the new Z4 is just too tacky.....its not aggressive enough imo......and the S2000 is just a better car overall if you factor in price, handling, looks etc.

Come on, HOnda or BMW, easy choice.

HONDA! haha, I'm not really much of a Honda guy but The s2k's are great, and I really dislike the z4's.

Actually.....I would take the 330 Cab over both these cars! :)And then I would take the SLK 32 AMG over the 330 CAb but then I will take the M3 cab over the SLK32 AMG and then the SL500 and then the SL55......blah.......it goes on forever lol

Neither, I'll take a boxster S over both those cars.

Yes yes! I was going to say the same - Porsche Boxter far my favourite out of all convertibles.

If I had to choose between the other two, I'd pick the S2000. BMW maintenance..bleh.

From the Honda.ca website

S2000 (base with zero options)
$48,600.00
+$850.00 PDI
=$49,450.00

From the BMW.ca Website
BMW Z4 2.5L
$51,500 (base)

BMW Z4 3.0L
$59,500 (base)

I hated the looks of the Z4 when I first saw it in pictures...
but now that I examined it closely in real life...
I'm beginning to grow into it... I think it looks 'nice' now..
but then I HATED the looks of the S2000 when it first came out also..... but I also grew into the looks of the S2000 now and thinks that it looks pretty nice....

I've driven my friend's S2000 ... I am not into this car .. my personal opinion only....

I've got a couple of friends with Boxsters (base Boxster 217HP and the 250 HP Boxster S) these cars are NICE...

I haven't driven a SLK or the Z4 yet... so I have no comment...

although BMW has upgraded the suspension and chassis of the Z4 substantially..... The handling characterictics of the Z4 is suppose to be vastly improved over the old Z3's (handling was the major complaint of the Z3's)

anyways... I like the 'looks' of the Z4.... even though MOST other ppl hate it....
I don't even mind the looks of the new 7 series....

the new 6 series still looks kinda funny to me....

heheheh... I really like the looks of the Mercedes Benz CLE... :)

I am crossing my fingers that the new SLK II will have much more improved and competitive handling compared to the Boxsters, Z4's , and S2000's.

still hard to judge since both cars are great performence vehicles.. given under a skilled driver. both can perform well..

I went to the auto mall today even though all of the dealships are closed but its been awhile since I check out the cars first hand live instead off pictures off the internet..

im like.. wow, Z4, 350z, G35 coupe, s2000, M3, eclipse... all the new ones.. hmm who would you go buy?

The current R170 SLK is just slightly behind the Boxster in handling, and quite a ways behind the S2000, even after the tweaks that I've done (thinner pads to lower CG, camber set to negative side of spec). Springs also bring the car to life on left/right transitions such as slalom. Unless you're talking about the AMG, brakes aren't as strong as both those cars.

While the R171 SLK (next gen) will get a small improvement in the handling dept by adopting the current C chassis/suspension/brakes, it won't be to the chassis' full potential because they will ensure that there is a degree of comfort in the car. Of course the tweaks I've mentioned above will fix that :D.

rage2 - if you have time this weekend.. and weather permitting, uh can I take a spin on your AMG (If I am gonna ask, might as well ask for the best SLK... haha)

I will try to take out my friend's 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose for you to check out. This car is in IMMACULATE condition.

so you have already upgraded the suspension on the AMG already??

yep... I need that balance between a 'sport' suspension and comfort. The S2000 is too much 'sport' for me...... too much lacking in the comfort area..... awesome for track or weekend car though...

The saleman at Calgary BMW asked me if I wanted to test drive the Z4 but I declined because I don't want to waste the salesman's time and I will end up feeling guilty for not buying the Z4.
