if you wanna use a vtech computer on a non vtech car, please check this out (http://www.vtech.com/about_vtech/index.php) .

Otherwise ... vtec ecu's are only really good for vtec engines.
This would best suite an ls/vtec or crvtec, or if someone wanted to socket and reprogram their own ecu.

I don't think it would.

not a good idea for b18b, but for 96 and up gsr its a good upgrade, higher rpms, and a better fuel map

Good deal $200 for a type r ecu that is cheap.

a type-r ECU will work ideally with a type-r.
a GSR ECU will work ideally with a GSR.

gsr 8000 rpm red line
type r 8500 rpm red line
better if you want rev it higher:thumbsup:

but with the 8500 redline for the gsr, is that good for the motor if it's only meant for 8000? Reason why I'm asking is cuz I'm gonna have a gsr motor in my car but I still need to look for a ecu.

well, with that reasoning i'd rather get an s2000 ecu so i can rev to 9000 rpm. :rolleyes:

or get a custom ECU reflashed to give you the rev limit you wish, but retain fuel mapping/curves that will best suit your comp ratio cams and whatever else have you...

How do you know, do you try it? i did and works perfect for me:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

thats because you drive a Type-R:rolleyes:
fuel maps will be different for different cars.
And no I haven't tried it, because I have enough common sense not to do something so stupid.

If you tried both ECU's in a GSR, the GSR ECU will run waaayyy better than the type-r.

I think this tidbit coming from a DSM guy is like UBER Ownage...but correct me if I am wrong...

B18C1=GSR Mill...
B18C5=Type R Mill...

now...if you have a B18C5...a Type R ECU, well it would work like gold...cause the fuel maps...hey...they are meant for the characteristics of a Type R...wow...and looky loo, as it states in your user name you have one...now if you don't...you are a sad 12 year old kid, who has nothing better to do than to watch Toretto sucker punch Johnny Tran ova, and ova again...and dream about his MOTEC system exhaust purcolating between the buildings of the local late night street racing scene...

I did try my type r ecu in budy's gsr and pulls much better in the top end, but you loose from 4000 and 6000. but it's me i like top end VTEC power.

Like I said in teh "fun" thread.

Itr ecu doesn't have the ability to open the sdecondary runner in the GSR intake manifold.

So it would run like a dog. And the higher vtec point is not great on teh whimpy GSR cams either.
