A&B as well ... but go and talk with Jason at AudioConcepts and he can set you up.

I wish I had waited for the 8454 HU. 100 more for mp3 playback and mem stick support. Damn it! One suggestion ... if it doesn't look too funky get adapters for the rears and put 6.5s in. Sounds better IMHO

Nice picks by the way. You already have an alarm and a watch dog for your vehicle right? If not you may consider it ... ;)

are you made of money?? that system right there is thousands and thousands of dollars (almost $2,000 in subs alone). you could get the same performance (albeit less brand prestige) at about 1/3rd the cost.

...but Eclipse stuff is amazing. their subs are godlike. the titaniums are absolutely astounding, and the Titanium Pro is the best sub on the market. PM me and I can get you a bit of a deal on a TiPro.

you look for Elemental Designs AE subs... ~1,200 watts RMS, just under 30mm excursion one-way, and they are around $200usd shipped second-hand. the amp to drive a pair to full power would be expensive, but considering you will save $600cdn on each sub, that's not that big of a deal.
otherwise, two subs is always going to be louder then one sub. you could look into the new Kv2 subs (600 watts RMS each, and only $200cdn brand new with 3 year warranty) and run four of those instead of two eclipses :)
PM me for the other sub I can get you.

I hate to derail the thread, but quick question. I'm a car audio newb and I picked up an MTX Audio Thunder 7500 12" "Superwoofer" (T7512-44) for about 330 from A&B sound (It's a dual 4ohm voice coil sub, 400W RMS) and an MTX Thunder421D amp for about 370ish. How does MTX compare to the other major brands? It seems to me they are pretty good since they are tested to meet specs before they are sent out to stores (ie. came with inspection certificate). It sounded great in the store but I have yet to set it up to full potential as my box will be done probably tomorrow. Opinions? Facts? Thanks for the input :D

Close match up for the amp and sub ... just be careful how you wire it. Parallel the coils.

As for how they stack up against other brands? Well against Eclipse subs and amps ... they just don't. Completly different league. For the price I don't think you have done too bad though. In that price range did you like the way it sounds compared to other subs and amp combos? If so, good on ya. That should thump as well.

FYI and what it's worth I have a four channel amp from MTX and I do not like the sound quality at all. However I do not have an alternate brand in that price range I can recommend due to lack of experience. It has served me well though and it has survived some accidental electrical experiments. So I would recommend MTX for someone looking for reliability and price over SQ.

Would it damage anything if the sub was only wired with one coil? My friend accidentally wired it with one coil when we tested to see if it was working. Would this amp handle two of these subs? I will be buying another in the future.

MTX's new lines of subs are far, far better then the previous ones. I can't say I've heard much of the 7500s or 8500s, but the 9500s are very good subs. On paper, the 7500s and 8500s seem like they have taken a gigantic step up. The 9500 is probably better then the Eclipse Titanium, just because in terms of RMS power handling the Eclipse is a bit below par while the MTX can take a huge amount of watts.

Running with one coil won't hurt much, but it definitely is not the best way to do things because the sub is designed to have both it's coils powered.

The XXX is not cheap in Canada, either. For the 15" it was $815ish + shipping from the retailer in Saskatchewan. I had a lot of problems with that retailer though, and ended up not getting the sub at all and just getting two Phoenix Gold Titaniums instead. The XXX is supposed to be very close the W7 in output, but as far as sound quality goes they both take a very different approach. The W7 is punchy, and has a great presence, while the XXX is kind of "huffy" and blends amazingly well with the music (but in turn, it is perceived as being quieter because of this).

crx62, they do not sell the 15AEs brand new anymore. Look on http://www.icixsound.com/vb/ for used 15AEs, there is one on there for $180 shipped right now. As far as performance-per-dollar goes, the AE, even used, is a way better deal then a $900 Titanium. and elemental's customer service is amazing, too. For a really good sub you can get from elemental brand new, look into the Ov2. 1,000 watts RMS, play in really small boxes, and go crazy loud (it is only a few dBs quieter then a AE).
