I think Kobe must think he is greater than basketball itself. Not only did he run out one of the greatest centers ever in the game, he ran out one of the greatest coaches. Now he's kicked the greatest power forward in history in the nuts and out the door. The only thing bigger than this guy's ego is his......actually I don't think anything could be bigger!:thumbsdow

Bryant claims Malone hit on his wife at a Laker game

Kobe Bryant ranks second in the NBA in scoring at 26.9 points per game.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Kobe Bryant-Karl Malone feud has turned personal, with Bryant accusing Malone of making a pass at his wife at a game.

"He was like a mentor, like a brother to me, so when something like that happens, you're upset, you're hurt," Bryant said Sunday night before the Los Angeles Lakers played the Orlando Magic.

Malone has been recuperating from knee surgery, and last Tuesday his agent said he didn't plan to return to the Lakers because of comments Bryant made in a radio interview. Bryant spoke about the Lakers having to look over their shoulders, wondering whether Malone was going to play again.

Malone's agent, Dwight Manley, said then that Malone was furious at Bryant, and also said private, personal attacks were involved, but would not elaborate.

Bryant elaborated plenty on Sunday.

He said he had phoned Malone, who has a home near Bryant's in Newport Beach, after Vanessa Bryant told her husband on Nov. 23 that Malone had made inappropriate comments to her that night at the game at Staples Center.

Bryant said he called Malone and told him, "Stay away from my wife. What's wrong with you? How could you?"

Malone was unavailable for comment Sunday.

According to Manley, however, Malone said he had never made a pass at Bryant's wife, that he initially was surprised at the accusation, and that he apologized to both Bryant and his wife for any remarks she may have considered inappropriate.

"Karl's response to Kobe's comments today is that he's a basketball player and not a soap opera actor and he doesn't intend to be involved in a personal soap opera," Manley said of his client.

Bryant said he obviously was surprised by Malone's remarks to his wife.

"The comments that he said, I don't know any man in this room that wouldn't be upset about that," Bryant said in the Lakers' locker room. "The past month, myself, my wife, [Malone's wife] Kaye, we've had fun together.

"We've been out to their house, just joking around, giving each other a hard time, just clowning, being sarcastic with one another, baby-sitting kids and all that."

Asked if there could have been a misunderstanding, Bryant said, "What he said is what he said. I believe in my heart that it wasn't a misunderstanding.

`My wife wasn't going to stand for it. She felt uncomfortable being around him to the point that she felt she had to call his wife and tell her."

Bryant said Malone didn't deny making the comments, and told him during their phone conversation, "Aw, you know, I'm sorry if I said anything that was out of line."

Malone, 41, told the Lakers on Oct. 1 he was still recovering from arthroscopic surgery he underwent three months earlier on his right knee and wasn't ready to play. But he didn't rule out returning at some point this season or beyond.

Malone, the second-leading scorer in NBA history, opted out of his $1.65 million contract following last season, making him a free agent.

Despite his obvious anger toward Malone, Bryant said he would be able to separate his personal feelings if Malone should rejoin the Lakers.

"If he could come back and play for us and help us out, I'm happy to embrace him as a teammate," Bryant said. `But only as a teammate."

Bryant is the defendant in a civil lawsuit accusing him of rape. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for pain, scorn and ridicule the woman says she has suffered since her encounter with Bryant at the Vail-area resort where she worked in June 2003.

Bryant needs to grow up. I haven't liked him since he entered the league because he's too damn cocky and he thinks the league owes HIM a favour.

I had a little more respect for him last year when he was going through his criminal trial cause I thought it was pretty impressive he could go to Colorado for court at 7am, be in court all day, and then fly back to LA and drop 40 points. That is mental toughness to seperate his personal from his professional life.

But I've lost all respect for him now. When 3 people of the same organization say relatively the same thing about a dude....you gotta wonder if he's really a team player. I'm glad Shaq and Phil left cause what's the point of putting up with Kobe's bullshit. The boy needs to grow up.

I feel bad for Malone, he left Utah where short of Brigham Young, he's "the man", to win a championship. Then ends up in LA where things blew up, now Mr. "it was consensual" is putting the boots to him.

Malone was asked by Vanessa Bryant, "Hey, cowboy, what are you hunting?" in reference to Malone wearing a cowboy hat and boots.

"She said it twice," Manley said, "and Karl answered, 'I'm hunting for little Mexican girls.' "

Great script for porn.

I don't really know that much about Kobe Bryant off the court, but he sure get's the job done on the court. Everytime I'm checking out the highlights he is always the one leading that team and taking his game to the next level. I definetely respect his game at the very least.

I agree with Max_boost. Kobe's a good player, but what makes him not like Mike is that he doesn't make players around him good. And that is why he will never win another championship again!

Kobe is just one of those people who thinks the world owes him probably because he has been handed everything on a silver platter. His dad played in the NBA and the Italian professional leagues so he was probably used to getting what he wanted at a young age.

Most people coming straight out of highschool to the NBA would take any offer that gave them a chance. When Kobe was drafted by the then Charlotte Hornets he sat out and forced a trade to the Lakers. Even when he got to the Lakers, he caused problems that resulting in the trading of Eddie Jones (who was their best player at the time), and Nick Van Excel who did not want to play with Kobe.

I'll admit that talent wise Kobe is part of a select few, but I'll never have respect for him as many people wont. It says a lot about a man when his own parents refuse to attend his wedding or associate with him. It also says a lot when he has a amazingly hot model of a wife waiting at home for him and he has to rape mentally unstable hotel workers in colorado.

Yah Kobe wishes he's the next MJ, Lebron is! He's representing that 23 dam well I must say. Anyway, that's topic for another day.

He's a cocky ball hog. It's true the guy has talent no one can take that from him but it's not a wonder he scores 40 points a night. He ALWAYS looks to shot, he'll have someone open for an easy 2 but he'll throw up a garbage 3 ball in double coverage. Given he often hits those shots his team mates need a litte glory as well. He's a silver spoon who happend to be damn good at basketball. He wants to have a team to himself and with Shaq/Phil he couldn't have all the glory. I do believe he was innocent of raping that girl but no doubt he slept with her... I know one of her cousins, apparently she's one crazy bitch who would totally lie about something like that. He's always been a trouble maker though, I believe in his first year he went at Shaq swinging... kk given he's 6"6, Shaw is 7"0 and a hell of alot heavier. After that I don't think many players were talking to him. It will be sweet to watch him go down, i've been waiting since he beat the sixers and Iverson in the finals.

P.S. it's not like his wife was a tough catch, she was a 17 year old aspiring model back up dancer for snoop dogg when he got with her, she just knew what she was doing when she held on cough*20 million dollar ring cough*

ok on the flipside, this is the first time kobe is by himself leading the team. Remember jordan's first few years? he was pretty much stat whoring (37ppg in 2nd season) and wasnt a leader then. But kobe still sucks haha.

Can't wait till christmas when Shaq drops 50 on the fakers and maybe a flagrant on kobe :D

Deion rips Kobe for taking Malone feud public

Deion Sanders has never been afraid to speak out, even if it's not about his sport, and he's taken aim at Kobe Bryant for "breaking every rule you could think of" as a player.

Over the weekend, Kobe made statements that Karl Malone made a pass at his Bryant's wife, Vanessa, and that was at the root of the recent Malone-Bryant rift that included Malone saying he would never play with the Lakers as long as Kobe was there.

But by taking this private spat public, Bryant really crossed the line, Sanders said.

"Kobe has broken all rules in regards to players' camaraderie, their fraternity," Sanders said on Sporting News Radio's James Brown Show. "He has broken every rule you could think of. I don't even understand how someone could come in the locker room and look this guy in his face when you go out like that.

"Not only is your house not in order because of the situation that he went through with the infidelity last year, but now you're placing Karl Malone in a position where now his home is under subjection right now because of these allegations. It's unbelievable. I can't even believe they would even allow that to come out in the media to attack Karl like that."

Sanders' comments are the latest in an ever-growing list of players who are lining up to take shots at Bryant. In addition to the recent falling out with Malone, Shaquille O'Neal still rips into Bryant whenever possible after Bryant played a key role in getting O'Neal traded to Miami, and the Sonics' Ray Allen ripped into Bryant as "selfish" earlier this season.

The recent Malone-Bryant feud boiled over when Vanessa Bryant told her husband on Nov. 23 that Malone had made inappropriate comments to her that night at the game at Staples Center.

The comments in question reportedly happened after Vanessa invited Malone to sit with her in the second half of that game. Malone, decked out in a cowboy hat and boots, went over and gave Vanessa Bryant a hug.

"Who are you hunting?" Vanessa reportedly asked when she saw Malone's outfit.

"Little Mexican girls," Malone responded.

And when that comment was relayed to Kobe, he called Malone and reportedly vowed to "(mess) him up" if he ever went near his wife again.

"Karl is a proven veteran. He's an older gentleman. What does he want with your woman?" Sanders said. "I mean, come on, let's be honest. What does Karl want with your woman? Karl has a daughter as old as Kobe's wife. So, let's be honest, that was really ridiculous.

"You've got to understand, guys like myself inside locker rooms, we get so upset when we hear foolishness like that in something coming out of Kobe's mouth. We just can't condone it. He's broken every rule or ordinance you can think of as a player."

every word allen said was basically true..kobe needs to change his attitude to be more like mj. but i dont think ne one will ever get to his level he is the greatest player to ever touch a basketball. and lebron isnt anywhere close to taking the throne yet but he is showing great signs he can be a great player he needs to first get a better jump shot and he needs to improve his defence all though he is great for a sophmore. kobe right now is the best all around player in the league but he thinks to much of himself and thats whats gonna bring him down. he needs to learn to work as a team or the lakers will go nowhere

i don't think its so much that he needs to learn teamwork, i mean this guy is one of the best in the league even though everyone hates to admit it. i think its moreso if hes willing to let other guys step up

Oh yeah he's dropping 30-40 points a game. . . And still losing. That's a sign that something's wrong with your attitude. Usually it means your taking WAY too many shots.

1 on 1, I don't doubt Kobe is probably one of the best players. But in a team game, he's fucking terrible. He's tried entirely way too hard trying to copy MJ.

For example, a couple years back (I can't remember if it was a playoff game or not) against the Kings, he claimed to have pretty bad food poisoning. Adelman and the rest of the Kings were smart enough to realize that Kobe was trying to emulate MJ's food poisoning episode against Utah. So they double-teamed him all night, as a result forced a number of turnovers and really bad shots.

I think it was the flu too.

Vince Carter is the only one who gets food poisoning. AKA I'm a little pussy ass bitch and my tummy hurts a little.

Deion Sanders had a nice take on Kobe breaking the 'code' yet again. Jim Rome tore Kobe apart, which I love to see because I hate him just as much as I hate VC. :)

the only reason kobe is putting up big numbers this year is because he wont let anyone else take a shot. he's shooting less than 40% and leading the league in ppg. unless there's something wrong with my math that equals one hell of a ball hog
