View Full Version : ENCM339 and FILE help please!

First off, if anyones taken ENcm339 and has any final exams, please let me know!

Second, we were given this as a sample final.

However I don't know how to open the file! Usually they are adobe acrobat, but it doesn't work. THE *.ps filetype made me install photoshop and try it. It opens, but only 1 page, not all 9 pages. And the background is kinda screwed up (I do'nt know how to use photoshop either).

Can someone help me with this??? thanks!!

That's a postscript file...
use one of the linux terminals to view it...
or search for a postscript reader for windows... (try word.. I believe you have the option of installing a postscript conversion...)

Can someone convert it to word or adobe pdf or something?

I tried opening the file with word but I don't know how to get it to work...i hate computers!

On the unix machines you can view the file on a windows you'll need ghost or adobe distiller.

Well I'm downloading a ghostview or something like that right now. Taking forever though! Thanks anyway, I think I can view it with this.

Yeah compared to comsci its pretty easy stuff, I hate it though!

Ok, I have it converted already in pdf so give me a shout if you want it.
It's not that bad - you'll get a better scope once you start / hate the low level architecture

You could've just ftp'ed it to your Unix account and typed:

"ps2pdf fall2000.ps fall2000.pdf" and it would've converted it for you....

I wish my exams were this easy.... :banghead:

Okay, now how can I view a powerpoint file from Linux? I'm using the linux computers in the second floor of ICT.
