We all know it doesn't stray to far from concept but it's still more a cruiser than a racer.

You mean the S&M version? These pictures don't really convey that much to me. I'll have to wait till some better pictures pop up.

good thing they are ditching the current 3rd generation ones they look horrible and perform no better than the 2nd and 1st generation ones!

They should have better performance as they will be coming with a 3.8L 240+ hp V6.

Hard to say you need a fairly heavy and beefy chassi for an engine that size

^ its on the new galant chassis, so ya, its going to be a heavy motha

George_Reyes

who cares if its heavy it just means its stronger. who wants a light car anyway? just get a Civic if weight is a factor.

I think they put boxes into the mask so it makes it harder to pick out the body lines. Mission accomplished... I have no idea what the actual car looks like from these pictures.

Everyon seem to forgot what the concept looks like:

http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/ly/images/04concepte_13.jpg

Except minor cost cutting for production (rear exhaust instead of side) and a less radical interior, it's should be virtually the same a concept.

IMO, unless it's getting EVO's engine, there is NOTHING good about this car. And I can't imagine a spyder version will be any better either.

People who buy sports cars thats who. If sports car manufacturers used your logic the enzo would weigh 10000lbs:nut:

A corvette weights 3100 pounds AND its fast. Sometimes weight is not a big deal.

Meh, I doubt that the swinging rear hatch, exposed front struts and 20" wheels made it to production either.

3100 lbs is not heavy for a 400hp car, especially considering a 350z weighs approx 3200:rolleyes:

You whiners just be happy that Mitsu hasn't gone the way of Honda and Toyota and rid themselves of any sporty vehicles. ;)

I wouldn't lump Honda into the same sentence as Toyota there. At least theres still the S2000 and NSX. To a lesser extent even the RSX. Toyota is discontinuing any semblance of a sportscar with they are getting rid of the Celica and the MRS or whatever.. even though they aren't really sports cars imo just "sporty".. the new supra concept is coming out though..

Toyota is dumping alot of cash into SCion, a Supra will hopefully be coming as well as a new mr2

The S2000 won't be brought back after this run is over. The NSX is more of a high priced exotic. The RSX while it does perform better than the Integra GSR, it doesn't stand out from the other Honda's and Acuras like the Integra did. It has the corporate "me too" bland styling that is running rampant with Toyota & Honda.

Mazda has the RX8 & Miata (hell even the Mazda 6 has exciting styling), Nissan has the 350Z & SER SpecV to a lesser extent, Mitsubishi has the Lancer EVO and Eclipse. Honda (S2000 exception) & Toyota (SCion looks decent but ....) sell vanilla vehicles.

I agree.

honda/acura/toyota = Vanilla.

The new TL has a nice exterior but the engine power puts it right into the vanilla lineup. Honda/Acura by far is the worst for not pushing the envelope. Maybe thats what makes them the most rreliable....:dunno:

I don't get this statement. 270hp is considered "vanilla"? Its in the same horsepower region as its competition. Its comparable to the G35, much more than Lexus ES330s "vanilla" 225hp, more than BMWs similar priced offerings. I'm just confused about what your comparing your judgements of the TLs engine output to? :dunno:

238 tq, boring. Cars with higher torque are so much more fun to drive.

The TL should have 300 hp/tq. Otherwise it joins it's non-inspired vanilla counterparts.

I am calling the company as a whole vanilla, I just said I liked the exterior of the TL, too bad it wasnt made into something more.

i actually like the concept. the onlything that bothered me about it was the abrupt angle of the windsheild, but it looks like the added more rake for the street version. its something new, but not as fugly as the new bmw's
