Yes, this is legit. Basically, dreamhost has this "777" code right now. It'll get you their L1 package for one year for 77 cents per month. You just make a one-time payment of like $10 (in us funds). It also just so happens that during the month of december, they're upping their storage and tripling their bandwidth for however long you have an account there.

Yes, I do get money if you sign up using my name. If you do NOT wanna donate to the kiraamzsyisradon fund, simply remove me as the referrer when you're signing up. ;)

http://www.thinkboxdesign.net/images/keebler/dreamhost.jpg

Steps:

1. Click the main big picture (the one that says "Happy Holidays" on it).
2. There will be a little popup. Just ignore that. It's for a more expensive package (but is also a pretty good deal).
3. Click the "Sign up Now!" for the one-year Level 1 plan, "Crazy Domain Insane"
4. Select a domain. Then Username, and email address.
5. Create a new WebID. (and if you wanna be nice, make sure "kiraamzsy" (sans quotes) is in the "Found Us" box at the bottom).
6. Finally, under "Confirm your hosting plan" put "777" (sans quotes) in the "Optional promo code" box.

This would be perfect for if you wanted to post pictures up on here without using attachments, great backup or even just a personal website. Registering your domain is free. I've signed up and I don't know of any other place that has such a good deal.

How's the quality of the service?
How's up time?
How's customer service?
What services do they provide?
Yes, I realize I could look for the fourth answer myself, but if I'm asking questions already one more shouldn't hurt.

I signed up for this service a couple of months ago. For $10 it is awesome.

no catch or anything? I'm thinking of switching hosts.

No catch that I'm aware of. I have a few different hosting accounts and I signed up for this one just because it was $10 for a year. Just using it to host images and I haven't had any problems at all.

Search on google for dreamhost 777 plan and you should find quite a bit of feedback on this.

Here is one:

Thats a wicked deal, 120GB transfer is awesome, but only 800mb space, right now I got 5gb space, 40gb transfer and a domain for just under 10 bux a month, not to shabby.

Does anyone know how their free domain name registration works? I'm guessing that one catch to it is that they own the domain name itself... but thats not too big a deal for me.

Anything else to it?

Thnx!

EDIT: I just tried registering a free domain with them but nothing (and I tried a LOT of them) seems to work. They all say ''already taken''. I cross-checked with internic's whois service and some of them weren't registered. Anyone getting the same thing??

no, i've never been to grandamgt.com so it's not me who posted there :dunno:

yes, the domain registration is FREE. I've heard of this problem before where people kept trying different stuff and it wasn't working. One person just tried switching browsers and that worked for him. Maybe give that a shot.

probably not a good idea as the CC info is stored for future payments.

Just from someone that have (and still) using Dreamhost. I've been using dreamhost for 7 years now, I really like their service, always updating/upgrading and commuicating with their customers. They may not be the cheapest, but definitely one of the most reliable and user friendly hosting company out there. I highly recommend them.

I recently just had mine bumped from 40GB bandwidth and 5GB space, upto 200GB bandwidth and 10GB space, all at no extra change, so its less than 9 bux a month I'm paying for it all and a domain name.

Dreamhost just tripled the storage limits as well, so instead of 800MB on the cheapo plan, you now get 2400MB.

I don't think so:
http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

Looks like both bandwidth and storage are tripled.

Also, when I signed up when it was 800 mb storage, and now when I check disk usage, it says I have 2400MB available, so they are applying it retroactively (said so in the newsletter too). I have no idea if that 777 code still works though.

I probably shouldn't be stealing someone elses referalls, but if you wanted to sign up and say that MrHeayfoot referred you, then that would be cool. (Yes, i misspelt my username when I signed up..... pity me.....)

Does someone want to purcahse one for me? i can pay cash or paypal.

Don't worry about it auto renewing in a year, normally that can be disabled or we can jsut work something out because in a year if I got the cash, I'll just pay u upfront or cancel and resign on. But I would really like it if someone coudl purchase this for me.

I would have but it wont let you use the same credit card 2x in their system. So unfortunately anyone that signed up wont be able to, unless they have a 2nd credit card. Sorry :(

(ps use 1137572a i want a referal also lol)

your idea is not going to work worth a dam with a 800mb space limitation, the bandwidth might as well be a zillion GB, it aint going to do me any good with such a small amount of space.
