i was wondering when does the vtec kick in on a 98 civic si. i was told at about 4000 rpm but i've tried going up to 4500 rpm and i dont' feel anything.

5200 RPM on my B16A Del Sol. Welcome to the wonderful world of torqueless engines.;)

Oops. You have the SOHC VTEC. I had one of those too on my 1994 Civic Si. I can't remember when it kicked in on that engine but it's nothing compared to the twincam models.

if the canadian si is equal to american ex

it seems to be around 5500rpm, from what people say.

5700 rpm DC2uned knows his shat! i would have to agree get a vtec controller and put it at 4700

Its not noticable on the D16 as it is on a B18 or H22.

From my experience I think its about 5500rpm.

Id say if you dont feel it yet at 4500 rpm, go up to 6000!

not from a soch vtec si. Besides, gsr kicks in around 4500rpm, si isnt till like established around 5700rpm.

dohc vtec you will notice vtec compared to sohc.

Misread what you said. But in what i was saying, you wont feel it on an si, compared to say your gsr.
