Ok guys post The specs of the perfect car. As if you were building it from scratch, engine, interior, ect...

This should be interesting.

well i would want it to look like a 1989 caddilac eldorado. With pink suede and racing seats with furry seatbelts. I want my shift knob to be shaped like a penis controlling my 12 gear transmission. And I only want a honda b16 engine in it

engine would be a small V-8, around 400 horsepower 300lb-ft of torque, with a redline somewhere above 9000rpm, interior would be functional. it would have a nice sound system, probably all Alpine F#1 stuff, Recaro buckets like in the Saturn Ion Redline, all black interior with suede black upholestery and headliner, black carpet, all that sort of thing. Momo steering wheel, all black. 360km/h speedometer. big tachometer. nice heater, maybe an AC. styling-wise, it would look exactly like my Talon, maybe a bit longer, with a small ducktail spoiler, and I would put a 1999 Eclipse front end on it with nice projector headlights... maybe blend the Talon and a Shelby Series 1 together for styling, actually, that would look nice. xenon lights for sure. dual exhaust, RWD, with a 5 speed transmission, steep gears so that it will haul ass off the line, the more it accelerates like an Evo the better. I'd want a really good warranty too :) and then price it for the same as a Corvette.

in my mind, only 2 words can describe this car, perfection and unobtainable.

luckily the 15 year rule will take care of one of those words soon.

It's a Cosworth Escort, folks. Sick amounts of power in a lightweight car.

Honda Insight with a big Harley Davidson Sportster Engine sticking out of the hood. And, the fuel injection system, and electronics that Buel uses on their sportster engines.

One extra feature, a control on the dash that changes the exhaust from neighborhood friendly to WIDE OPEN PIPES!

LOL

Haha this makes me laugh. WHy would you want less torque than horsepower especially out of a v8?? Whatever.

actually I think a place in BC can actually build one up for about 30 grand using genuine cosworth parts and a new escort shell from the factory.

edit: heres the link of the place http://www.drakenent.com/draent/street.htm

so it's not completely unobtainable ;)

the car is a ford escort cosworth, but pretty much nothing is escort anymore except for the shell.

recaro interior
STRONG 2.0L turbo motor
AWD
stiff chasis

here is a cossie with a stock front bumper
http://www.cossie.info/bilder/Vaaler25mai2002/Vaaler25mai2002_3.jpg

production started in 1992 so they will be legal in a couple years, until then the 4 door version (which started in '88, as pictured in my avitar) is available and also uses a recaro interior. the engine wasn't as strong until 1990 when the 4 door model went awd, when it got the stronger motor shared with the cossie escort.

High revving V8 with a wide torqueband, preferably topping out near 500 lb-ft. Peak of 700hp.

Nice basic yet comforting black leather interior that's quiet when I cruise and can hear the engine when I give it the gas.

Convertible hardtop, quiet when I have the top up like a Mercedes, loads of fun when down.

The wonderful Ferrari gated shifter tied to a 6-speed on the center console.

Light on its feet, weighs 4000 pounds with the luxuries but goes like it weighs 3000.

RWD.

I think that's it.:D

BTW it's red too.

you fag. all of the new ferraris are V8s with less torque then horsepower. I'd rather have a motor I can wind out to 9,500rpm then one that has said its piece by 6,000. I used to have a V8 with 300lb-ft torque and 180 horsepower and a 5,500rpm redline and it was bloody boring on anything but ice. ride in an Integra Type-R or a rotary and tell me you don't like the feeling of a really, really long powerband.

Hi rev V8s with torque and horsepower are even awesomer!:D

personal preference i guess, but i can't stand motors that don't have a ton of low end torque, they are fucking boring :dunno:

high reving is good, but I say different strokes for different folks... for example, I get a kick at how my harley go from 0-60 without ever reaching 2500 rpm. Even though alot of bikes are way faster, this is part of Harley's appeal.

Tube frame, hardtop, midengined V12, AWD with controllable torque bias, CF everywhere possible, and for the actual fantasy part; 2500lbs or less! :D

Edit: I kant speel :P

Haha long ass power band in a integra type r. Give me a break you don't have any power till 5 grand. I just think torque and hp should at least be fairly close and theres ne reason to call me a fag.

Hmm.. not sure on the car.. but the motor would have a turbo larger then elton johns cavity!!!!(huge)

think about it: would you rather take a car that tops out at 60km/h in first, or one that is redlining at 30 and you have to shift? every time you shift, you lose ground to somebody who is still in the same gear, no matter how good you are at shifting. that's why having a sky-high redline is sweet. And 300lb-ft of torque is a LOT, especially if your powerband is flat from 2,000rpm to way on high up. that would suck you back in your seat like none other. just because it has 100 less torque then horsepower does not mean it's slow.

Jason Lange

I agree somewhat. I would love a flat powerband from 2000 rpm and up. 300 ft/lb's is maybe alot for a honda. However for a dream car v8 it isn't.
