Be careful out there kids !! Let's keep the "I wrecked my car " threads to a minimum ,even if you drive a Cavalier.. ;)

Heavy snowfall warning for
city of Calgary issued

Snow and blowing snow expected through southern Alberta tonight.

A cold front will push southward across Alberta tonight. As the cold air pushes down, pacific moisture will come across the Rockies and produce snow as it is lifted over the deepening layer of cold air. Snowfall amounts in the warning areas are expected to range from 10 to 15 centimetres. In addition, the cold front will be accompanied by considerable drifting and local blowing snow with north winds 30 gusting 50 km/h in some areas. These northerlies should arrive in Calgary by midnight and the remainder of southern Alberta overnight. The strongest winds and blowing snow will only last a few hours at any one locality. The snow will taper off in most areas Sunday morning, but will linger over extreme southern areas all day.

awww come on you guys bash 4x4's soo much...

come on you think i'm gunna be in the ditch before you? anyways i'll be towing your ass outta the ditch before the snow gets too thick on the roads for me to cross. btw I do realise 4x4 does nothing for braking, but my tires are better on snow / ice then any of your car tires :>

4x4 can accelerate fast in the snow, but the brakes are no different than a car... See you in the ditch!

Not bashing 4X4's , just the majority of their owners who haven't a clue on their limitations. Watch the news tomorrow.Half of the crashes and vehicles in the ditch will be SUV's and 4X4 trucks.

I beg to disagree on your tire comments . Car snow tires offer plenty of grip.If you have regular truck M+S tires, they tend to be wider and float on the snow rather than dig in and grip . And ,if you are talking about your F150, I bet you need weight in the bed to help with traction .
My car doesn't ....

Now , if the snow gets much deeper than 20 cms , I'm up shit creek without a paddle !! :D

At/s tires, ive also got chains.
I dont need any weight in the f150 box, I'm probably going chewin up the loggin road tomorrow If I do Ill take some pics and without weight in the box no car will make it up where we usually go :>

Chains are illegal to use in city limits.

Just got home from work (06:30 am) .Roads are not good. You're okay if you stay in the tracks, but there are some large drifts on the side streets. The Deerfoot around McKnight is okay ,but it's difficult to see the lanes. Some idiots are driving around without clearing all the snow off their windows .One jerk almost hit me because his side windows were totally covered, and he changed lanes right in front of me :banghead:
There's also some very icy patches  .

So , please be careful out there !!

Holy crap that's funny! I was up by the University doing donuts in my 240 last night, and a cop drove up, watched for a second and left.. I was wondering if he was going to bust me or not :D

Probably the same guy!
