not that i have a problem starting my car yet ...it does start in 1 click even its -22.. but do we need them though?:)

I was told by a BMW salesperson (take it for what its worth) that BMW, despite having their own "approved" block heater, doesn't recommend one. Moreover, given the synthetic oil that all new BMWs come with, it isn't "needed"

They are just helpful when really cold. I recently discovered that mine is burnt or the cord is f*&^ed!! My car's problem is keeping the battery warm and charged due to it's trunk location.

My 540i spent the night at -20ish and started like shit the next day so bad that the check engine light came on. The dealer said that it was probably some frozen fuel and some un burnt gas probably past the sensor. it was a quick reset.
