I only started working out around late February so I don't know first hand, but I keep hearing about how packed the gym will be after New Years.

Is it really that bad?
I'm hoping the benches aren't going to be hogged up, oh well I'm pretty sure nobody will be using the squat racks

This is another advantage of the set-up I have. I have everything I need down in my basement. Although I might check out a few gyms later in the year.

In answer to your question yes I think business will pick up a lot in the gym, and it will be full of a lot more people who haven't worked out before meaning they take longer on equipment and bump-heads with the regulars.

I don't think it will be too busy. Most people will give up after a week :D

I usually go late at night (b/w 9 and 11) so its always dead anyways.

Either go early in the morning or late at night. Best times.

Yup, every year. Even when I was at the U it was like that, but rest assured, by about January 20th, it'll be back to normal when all the new years' resolution fatties realize exercise is too much work!:D

I remember the gyms being busy for maybe 4 weeks max, then everyone just gives up.

Haha.
Considering school starts on Jan 10th, guess putting up with the crowd for just 10 days isn't that bad
