A couple of days ago, I parked at a city meter and it flashed "dEAd" so I figured it was safe to park there.

I was only there for 15 minutes and left without incident, not knowing if a meter maid came by or not.

My question is: Can the city give me a ticket if I parked all day at a dead meter?

imo...i don't think you can get fined for that because there's prove when the meter actually started displaying the words DEAD

damn..that's the first time i've ever seen that..i would like to have one of those haha..free parking!

yes you can receive a ticket for parking infront of a broken meter.

but don't they normally give u the ticket right away by putting it on your windshield if it's a parking ticket?

my point is yes they can give you a ticket, i just doubt a meter maid came by your car or didn't feel like writing out the ticket.

I had a similar problem once, I plugged in a quarter and the meter jammed, I just happened to see a meter maid walking by and asked him. he said if that happens, call the number on the meter so they can flag it. Basically he said, call it and you won't get ticketed.
