I have a 94 honda civic Cx hatch.. stock , I heard that an acura B18 motor is very common as a swap engine.. Can anyone give me advice on how to go about doing this.. Or any things that may go wrong with this engine swap. Thanxs

i'd go with a b18c1...not too much pricewise, can boost it later on without too much trouble.

most honda motors won't give you trouble, the only instance where u mite run into some irregular trouble is if you build a motor and don't do it rite (CRVTEC is a common built motor), or summin mite go wrong if you just generally don't do smat mods to ur car ( throw a T3 turbo on ur motor with stock internals and tune it to a high boost setting).

I say B18B or a B20 motor + boost. Both fairly cheap low compression motors that Love boost. If you just want a swap and no turbo then B18C1 or B18C5.

Agreeing on the c5 being better but more. Also don't go by the prices on jdmsource.com they haven't updated that in a damn long time just give em a call and get some prices.

b18c1's have lower compression.. I believe.. right? B18C5's are IT-R engines and are higher compression wise over C1's..

Correct me if I'm wrong..

So turbo'ing a C1 would be a better idea then a C5.. If logic serves me right.

Any B series will bolt up to your current engine mounts so there is no problem there. Yours is a cx so there is no existing vtec wiring which means that has to be set up if you go with a B16a2/b, or B18c1/5 and that raises the cost of your install a little. There are no real problems with this swap as it's very straightforward. If money is an issue the B16a2 would be the cheapest vtec B series swap you could do because the motor itself is cheaper than the B18c1 and c5, and install should cost the same for them all.

But may I also suggest picking up a D16z6 and turboing that? You would still have to run vtec wiring, but the engine you could pick up for $500 and pull together a turbo kit for lets say $1500. It would cost way less than a B series and you would be putting down WAY more wheel torque and power.:D

Edit: Nevermind, I see that your already looking into a turbo B series. turbo B > turbo D

If you can afford the B18, do it up, anything can have a turbo put on, why not even check the price for a K20 :)
