Hey. My mom is looking for a new car. I have her away from the big 3 (domestics) but they aren't that bad. She is looking for more of an older person car. On the top of her list is the VW passat. Any ideas on other cars? I kinda want here to get a Maxima.

Dont get me wrong, Passats are great, she just wants some variety when choosing. So........

(OK, now YOU post.)

How much does she want to spend? If I were you, show her all the different manufacturers website and see if anything catches her eye and then set up a test drive........

We would, but were in Edmonton, so we'd probably go to Norden VW

hey same situation here! my mom is looking for a new car ( still )
it really all depends on your budget man!

i say ~30k = Camry, accord, Jetta

~40k= Passat, A4

~50k= G35 sedan,C320 ( not HB), X-type?

unless you want SUV.. then there is CRV, Rav4, Murengo or watever. :P

That doesn't seem like much of an older person's car though...:dunno:

These are all new models, I'm suggesting:

Nissan Altima
Volvo (pick a model; S70, S80, ?)
Lexus IS300
Audi A4
Mazda 6
Lincoln LS
Cadillac CTS

Since it sounds like cost is a factor, as it would be for me & most people. You also gotta consider and research:

fuel consumption
insurance
cost of parts/ repair
safety features

Good luck
:)

passat's are nice, if you get the 1.8t its relatively cheap too. and i agree with the previous comment on its quietness, my mom has a 98 passat 1.8t, and its really really quiet. same with my 1.8t actually.

Make sure its purple too:rofl:

but seriously, those Passats are nice. :) The 1.8T is pretty peppy and fun, but with past experiences I would say the Camry's not a bad choice either.
