Hey, I need a good car with at least 200hp that I can customize (body and engine) for between 25-35g's.

I was looking at maybe a Volvo or Toyota, but the only Toyota I see that doesn't look completely boring is the Camry Solara, but I haven't been able to find any aftermarket body kits or performance parts and I don't know much about the car. Was also looking at the Volvo S40 T5 AWD but I don't know much about it either, I've read good and bad reviews.

Anyone have any suggestions? I prefer new because of warranty, I'd settle for something older if it's known to be reliable.

(No mazdaspeeds, one of my close friends has one...)

30g's will get you into a newer E46 bmw!

Hands down the best car for that price IMO.

Or even an IS300.

I was thinking Is300 but I'm 6'2... Which E46 could I get for that money? I wouldn't drive anything less than a 325, I hate lowest end lux cars.

Haven't been reading into cars lately so I basically have no knowledge about any cars in this price range.

Anyone know anything about the new Acura TL?

You can get a 2001ish 325 for under 25k if you look hard enough.

The TL is an amazing car, but its still likely over 30k.

What about buying something 1 or 2 years old? Still has warranty and someone else has already taken the depreciation hit.

A new 325i is closer to $40k plus options and tax.

I WOULD buy something 1-2 years old, anything as long as it has at least 2 years warranty left, or is cheap to maintain.

^ They're out there but I don't think E36's still have warrenty etc... and we all know they aren't cheap to maintain.

Have you thought about higher end vdubs? Possibly a VR6 Jetta. You can probably find a used Audi A4/S4 for somewhere around your price range.

You have so many choices, you can virtually make a pimp ride out of everything from

Acura RSX/TSX/TL
BMW 325/328/330
Subaru WRX
Nissan 350Z
Mazda RX8
Honda S2000
Porsche Boxster
VW Golf/Jetta GTI/VR6
Mercdes C230/320
Lexus IS300

i would go with a audi S4, or a volvo S40 T5 AWD as you said in your initial post. a TL will definitely be over your price range and i probably wouldn't get that if i had other cars to choose from.

I didn't know the 350z was in my price range... Same with the S4, thanks for the link to the M3. I love the E36 but I already have an mid 90's benz to take care of, mind you that M3 is a 99, thought they'd be more expensive.

I'll check all of them out.

350Z and S2000 are both very much within your range. I've seen very low km 350's around 34k, and S2k's for less than 30!
