I need to find a shop that can build me a diesel powered 13b wankel rotary engine. the only set in stone specs are that it must be 300lbs or less and produce 200 or more ft lbs of torque, and preferably the same in hp.

Is this at all possible? I thought rotary could only be used with gas combustion?

yeh, but just posting that such a thing does exist thats all :)
Hell I've never even heard of a diesel powered rotary before...never heard of a vehicle powered by one either..

I didn't think wankels had high enough compression? I visited the site nismodrifter posted and it shows 8.5:1 compression - I thought you needed at least 15:1 to get diesel to ignite? Maybe because rotaries run hotter? Has anyone actually seen a diesel rotary running?

By using a different shaped rotor, I suppose you could bring the compression up enough, but I honestly think it would have to be a turbo diesel be worth doing.

Pretty neat idea.

yeah its for an industrial purpose, it is possible, there are different ways of doing it. I dont need a rotary per say, just an engine that fits my above criteria. I know of 2 engine manufacturers that make concept engines that fit us perfectly but they are still in R&D

Whats the application you need this for? IF you need a lighter engine, I could be wrong but I think Detroit makes an inline 4 that might fit the specs you need.

RX7 owners, go put diesel in your RX7 and tell us what happens after and if it runs or not...If so does it make madd torque?:D

a deisel rotary is like an oxymoron :D
