I like it. I wish it was AWD with a 4G63 but this looks much more promising than the 3G.

much much better than the 3rd gen! pretty sexy styling. power still goes to the wrong wheels but this should still be a big step up from the current car

I like it better than the 3G. Dunno if I love it though... maybe if I see one in person? :dunno:

looks better then the current one, i still like the look of the second gen eclipse more.

the back reminds me of an audi TT, and i'm not a huge fan of the headlights.

260hp is a bit weak out of almost 4 liters of displacement, but the car definatly is an improvement over the 3G.

Besides the Tiburon-esque headlights, I quite like it....

I actually like it. Nice lines and a rather clean design overall.

I would like to see what the power curve looks like.

I'm surprised there going to put a 3.8L in there. Looks like their aiming for the big boys such as the V6 Accord, Altima 3.5 and Legacy. Surprised Mitsu isnt outta business yet.

The 3.8L is their bread and butter engine. Much like Nissan's 3.5L VQ. But it's pretty weak tho, 300cc more and barely match the numbers from the smaller VQs.

The new eclipse nees 4WD and dual exhaust.

I like it, needs AWD though.

I agree. With that big V6 and 6-speed and those looks, if it had AWD I would be pawning off my current vehicles to get one.

Looks much nicer than the current model, I think the rear is too round though but its still okay  2g is the best though i still think. if they do make an AWD in this one

What do you figure they will retail for?

Ill bet you the gt's gonna cost around $40,000cdn. Does anybody know if there is gonna be a spyder (convertable)model again? That would be pimp.

Screw the spyder, hard top convertible :bigpimp:

With current Mitsu's rep, $40K would be too much. I'll expect $36K for top model, much like Accord V6 coupe. Are they putting 5 year b2b warranty on Canadian Mitsu's now?

01-11-2005, 11:44 AM
^ yea that price seems more resonable. But that is what they are asking for a 3g gt right now with only 200hp and the new one comes with 260hp.

Looks nice, I like the SRT front.

I'm a big Eclipse fan and Mitsu is finally getting back on track. 260HP, wow. 3G's with 200HP are VERY fun to drive (I've owned GTs, super smooth cars).

I would expect a fully loaded model with 18" alloys, 650 watt soundsystem, & 6-speed to retail between $34 - 37 CDN. They won't be $40. The Eclipse is Mitsubishi's bread & butter vehicle and they need to sell lots. Alot of people in Canada dont realize that since 1990 the Eclipse has outsold the competion including Integras, Preludes, Celica's, etc. in the US. Price will have be very competative with competition like the RSX. This is the primary reason that they went with the corporate 3.8L V6 and left out AWD. I could be wrong and they could be closer to $40 but that would be a mistake by a company that can't afford any more blunders.

They learned their mistake with the 3G. It turned out to be a bloated and expensive car with nothing in common with previous Eclipses. This one at least has the spirit of the 1G & 2G cars as it looks more sporty, performance oriented, and cutting edge.

Do they include the Chrysler (Sebring) and Dodge (Stratus and Avenger) variants in those numbers?

No. That doesn't even include the Talon or Laser (Eclipses outsold Talons by over a 10-1 ratio in the US).

PASTED FROM ANOTHER POST

ROAD and TRACK
0-60 in 5.8
And it has done the quater in 14.4 at 101mph
Even thow its about 3 to 4 thousand pounds heavier "I have even heard 5 thousand" than the current. Its a second and a half faster. And a tad over a sec faster in 0-60 time.

Thats not bad comapred to some of the new rear wheel sport coups like the 350z and it 14.1. Or the G35 coupe which does 0-60 in 5.9 and the quater at the same 14.4

You guys are off on the price too a tad. Its 22,000 to fully loaded GT around 28 to 27,000 here in the US. What is $34 - 37 CDN?? Not sure on that or how that adds up or wear its from lol?? But because of poor sales on the last model "not the company the model" they cant jack the price of the new ones in the first year intill they re gain customers for it. Should have even told you that on the car show movie at the site. Or go to club 4g eclipse they know all about it and many reps their too. Its the only car I know a lot about. Not only have I heard this in mags. Ive already talked to Reps of the company. Because im trading my Current green 03 oopps 02 GT In on one. "Only has 22,000 miles." Yea I use a van for long trips. And have sold all my junk over the last year since I first saw the concept. It less Fast and Furious and more me. At my growing age of 33. But it is said to not handle like a 350z. But ride more smooth. Plus I only corner fast if im on 2 wheels and in the dirt ;) . And it can run over bumps in the road with no rattle. Its almost like a smooth midsize they said. Some smooth class feel. With a decent 14.4 Quater speed . My type of ride. Fast and comfy, instead of fast and furious. Im only 5'7" too so size is never as prob for me. Yea its time for me to take My green one away and it's wannabe Polyurethane Body kit and neon's. And grow old a little. While still getting faster lol.
A not fully loaded GT is looking around 25,000. and at 14.4 still. And it will be easy to take some massive weight off. Also since intakes go off of % of power. At 264hp, it wont take much to get to the big 300hp mark. Honda 4cyl kids.. Are gona hate this car. While STILL having trouble with the current GT.;)

Because it's not. The car probably weighs no more than 3000 lbs.
