Hey Guy,

Where is the best place to put sand bags in a 240sx, the trunk or the back seat/foot rest area or both?. Let me know your opinions guys.

Thanks,

In the trunk... that puts the weight over the wheels... right where you want it.

If you put sandbags in a FWD, does it actually work?

if you tape them to your front bumper or hood, or put them in your engine bay yes. otherwise no it makes traction worse.

Actually, it would depend upon your setup. If you have lowered your car and put big-a$$ sway-bars in it, causing you to oversteer and loose the back end in bad weather, then sandbags might help you. Otherwise, the only thing they are good for in a FWD is breaking them open and putting sand under your front tires to give you traction. You could even try having the bag open in your lap and throwing the sand in front of the car while you are driving.;)

As for RWD, put the sandbags behind your rear tires. You want to transfer as much weight as possible to the back of the car. Basic physics says the the further behind the pivot point (being rear axles) the weight is, the greater the weight transfer.

Well I was just asking because a friend of mine is using them in a Tercel. I told her they wouldn't work on her car. BTW I'm taking the bus right now...no need for sandbags ;) until my car gets here anyway.
