View Full Version : What are you worth?

Just wondering what people are expecting to make while they are in school and then what their first job after graduation. Please list what year you are in if you are still going to school, what type of work you want to do. If you are graduating, list what degree/certificate/etc you got and how much are you willing to work for? Just wondering, ball park figures are welcome. I'm asking because I am just curious to know if I need to look for a new job!

I'll start with myself, I have a fairly useless cpsc degree from the UC (I'm sure most readers in this forum can program better than I can) My first salary was $45K/year. Is this figure low/high these days? Obviously I'm making more now but feel I'm not getting ahead with this considering the cost of everything is up! Anyways, any thoughts?

I beg to differ.

There are a lot of useless twats out in the work force getting paid way more than they are worth.

You can say that for pretty much all of unionized companies as well though.

I agree with benyl about useless twats.. I see my fair share of those at my company.. there's 3 types of people in my company.

1. People who actually like what they do, and think they have a competitive salary
2. Lifers who refuse to do anything else they're hired to do, they constantly bitch about how incompetent the boss is, and they're just here because it's a job.
3. People who actually do the extra work and get paid the same amount as the lifers do (These people usually don't stick around for too long)
