Probably won't work in low profile applications.

When air leaks, you just pump more. If those rubber sponge ages, you probably need to replace the whole tire.

Michelen will obviously have sidewalls on the tires so they look like normal tires if a production version makes it out.

My thoughts exactly...and another question if those made it to the market...don't you think mounting them onto the wheel would be different too? it could be a while before every dealer could get a mounting unit for them too..

Wow looks really interesting, but so far it looks ugly from the side shot...

that's what i think too..... it shouldn't be too hard to cover them up like a normal tire.

yea it wouldn't be that difficult to cover up the side, i don't think they'll leave it open like that, probably won't sell well looking that ugly

If those catch on, I wonder what the rims for those would look like?:barf: kinda does away with the whole concept

it would look cook if you got rims to flow into the same style as the inside of those tires

is it just me or do the spokes at the bottom look bent?

Yup, and they are supposed too. Its so the tire can flatten out a bit and have more contact surface, just as air tires do.

crazy tires. Imagine what it'd look like to see a car drive by really fast with those tires.. it'd almost look like his car is floating, because you can see through (if see at all) the tires.. it'd float around like a cloud. doesnt look very stable though.

depending on the life expectancy it'd be cool to see those impimented IN ADDITION to the current tire setup so if you ever get a flat you will still be able to drive for a while to get a place to fill it up or have it repaired...

as i said, depends on their durability.

Called the Michelin Tweel, its really an airless tire that uses rubber instead

Whoa, uber bump.

Enormous bump, but I came across a video of the Tweel in action:

Pretty cool, especially when they blow up the tweel on the Bobcat.

I'm sure (i think I read it somewhere also) they'll put some sidewalls on the tires for more rigidity and for better looks.
They sides were removed just for the press release to show the new technology of air-less tires.

I like it without the sides. And it makes rims a lot cheaper too. I won't need 17s anymore, I'll need 7s!
