I thought on every honda, vtec kicks in at 5500 rpm? If you want to know if your vtec has kicked in or not take a look at this first. I have a 00 Prelude and this is where vtec always kicks in for me.

they used to be all over ebay. But its basically a LED with a cover that makes it look more oem.

This would be easy as hell.. Do you have a basic understanding of electronics/electrical circuits, good hand tools and a factory service manual?

maybe if every honda engine was the same engine. theres alot of different engines they make ya know, so no, they all dont kick in at 5500 rpm.

I know for a fact that in this generation the civics , integras and preludes all have their vtec kick in at 5500. So yeah ... all those different engines "yah know" kick in at 5500.

Uh oh, well maybe you ought to let a shop handle this for you. I was going to suggest using a relay off of the vtec pressure switch to power the LED, that way you leave the stock system working as normal and are just using the 12+v from the pressure switch circuit as a signal to engage the circuit for the LED. Like I say, not too hard.

If you didn't understand any of that just take your car to a performance shop! :D

i understand some of that...but damn, that would be pretty pricy just to install a god damn light if i took it to a performance shop

If your si is an auto why would you ever even want to try to get vtec kick in? Im not dissing civics because I think they are great cars, but im pretty sure when you purchased an auto si , performance wasnt the main thing on your mind.

If you really just want to have a see of how it performs when vtec kicks in, just leave ur civic in d3 and take it on deerfoot and watch the rpm. As soon as you hit 5500 it will be obvious ur vtec kicked in

haha yes you're right..i'm more into styling then performance. but since i've purchased the si...i've never even had vtec kick in. the max i ever go is 4500rpm, i'm just waiting till spring to test it out.
