have you gotten it inspected? is all maintenance updated?

it's hard to really see whether it's a good deal or not until you check everything out

Kimmies are pretty high but it's an engine that is known to last quite a while.

I agree with T-im, you need to get an inspection and take it for a drive and see how you like it. Also what are your friends driving habits like? Milage can either mean 121,000kms of pure hell or 121,000kms of careful highway driving.

As always, Carfax the vehicle (get somebody on Beyond to do it for you) to check accident history.

Carfax in Canada is not worth it. I carfaxed a car which had been in 3 accidents (one where it waswritten off) and nothing came up.

Candadian Carfax is a waste of time FYI.

Take the car to Glenmore Audi and get a full inspection.

Wow I was surprised to hear that...although I guess it would be impossible for a site like that to be accurate to any high degree. Any accident that doesn't go through insurance wouldn't appear on Carfax, plus ones that do go through insurance probably slip through at times too.

If you are getting it for free from somebody who is a paid member then I suppose it doesn't hurt tp take a look.

I think the car is an A6 not an A4.

$15K for an A6 ? that is a good deal ! A6 is a nice car from Audi .. and consider for $15K .. most 98 A4 2.8, 318iS, C230 ,ES 300, TL are going for that price or more, and A6 is a much nicer overall car compare to A4, nice looking, good size, and nicest interior in it's class.

Quattro is good for winter, and Silver is nice colour for European car.

$15K for an A6 is a pretty good deal. And the kms are not high. The car is 7 years old, thats less than 20K/yr. I'd say go for it. Very nice cars.

Definitely go for an inspection. The problems tend to appear just after warranty and being that this has been outside of warranty for 3 years, more problems may arise. Although a lot of these may be minor, they quickly become major in price, so if there is anything that requires changing or maintaining, ask for an estimate included just so you know what you're getting yourself into.

I don't know your relationship with the seller but oftentimes, anything too good to be true, really does turn out to be too good to be true.

Case in point, my friend bought a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T without doing his due diligence a few years back for $22 000. Was priced a few grand below market so he bought with just a butt dyno and a quick visual. A year later he was happy to sell it for $12 000, and on top of that, had to fix the clutch, the lower control arms as well as the turbo. Although this may be an isolated case, that one experience cost him over $18 000 over the course of a year.
