I went to check out the ABA's first Canadian team on Friday night. All in all, it wasn't a bad game. The basketball itself pretty decent. However, the entertainment part of the game was terrible. The "Dance Team" they have is pretty bad, and the contests they hold for the crowd are a little lacklustre.

Granted, I understand that the Dance Team can't be a bunch of professionals because afterall, it is the ABA. And when you were getting 300 people/game, you can't do much better. But at least get people who are a little older, or people who can actually dance.

The problem I had with the contests was that they tried to fit them in at the stupidest times. Like during 20 second timeouts. By the time they get the game explained, the timeout is over and they have to get off the court.

The basketball is decent. Obviously not NBA caliber, but it's good. High scoring games too. Scores are often in the 110-120's. Defense isn't too big of an emphasis though.

You may have heard about their obscene ticket prices, but there's a ticket sale going on right now, and they're pretty cheap. I paid $15 for mine, and I was midcourt, about as close to the floor as you can get without getting courtside seats. If this were hockey, I had some sweet seats.

I wanna go check it out sometime, but I heard they have some crazy rules. Like if you steal the ball and score on a press its worth 3 points or something like that?

I plan on checking out a few games this year :) haha I saw their various ticket prices and they are somewhat brutal lol...ticket sales sound like the way to go...do you have to buy them in advance or do they sell them at the door?

I see them practice everday, they use our school gym as their practice gym.....

we get free tickets to any game we want :)

A lot of them are pretty young. Just a lot of them look like they have some bad knees.

Mike Myers, who played overseas last year, is playing for the drillers this year. He's a Calgary kid, played at central memorial until 96/97 ish, then SAIT.

They signed Emannuel on Friday. He's fom SAIT.

From what I heard, it didn't work out between Mike Myers and the Drillers. Don't know why though.

^ Ticketmaster has always been a time saver for me, just print the tickets off at home.

They're selling $96 tix on Ticketmaster? Who would pay that to watch the Drillers? They don't have box seats in the Corral do they?

Hell, I remember having to guard Myers in HS. Fucker was 5" taller than me, worked me pretty bad! Tried out for the provincial team with him too. Obviously bball got me pretty far! lol

Drillers did sign Emmanuel of friday, it's been said that he left SAIT beacuse of academic ineligability..SAIT had crazy team but alot left the team..???also I heard Mike Myers did make the team but things did not work out between them???
