Not really, people don't particularly care about Rick Hilton all that much - the Hilton family isn't very money'd compared to alot of other families (Trump, Hearst, Hilfiger)

Her stardom has to do with the fact that she knows how to create news about herself and parade herself in front of cameras - basically, she has no shame. - ie her sex tape (which she soo leaked for publicity,) and her buying a copy of "one night in paris" just to ensure US Weekly would get a photo of her buying it)

Her whole "career" started with pagesix constantly reporting about her miniscule happenings - ie, her at a club, her fighting at a club (her and Shannen Doherty), her hooking up with randoms, and stuff like that. She used her shamelessness and the medias fascination to land her some sweet deals (ie - her perfume, her jewlerry, her book deals, her reality tv shows, her upcoming movie (House of Wax & Pledge This))

I gotta say, as stupid as most people think she is, I think she's pretty smart to pull this all off - make money by acting stupid.

Paris had to start somewhere, and having a family who's networth that is in the hundreds of millions (not sure exactly how much) wouldn't hurt either. I guess that's not a lot compared to other billionaires but come on, that's ridiculous money for the rest of us commoners. :D
