Alpine makes the best units you can buy.

Alpine, buy the best one you can afford!

So so so happy with my CDA-9835.

I would stay far, far away from sony for car audio. (I learned the hard way). It's poor quality stuff. If you have $300 to spend, I would go alpine. They make great HU's and you can probably find a base alpine for under $300

Sony makes good stuff. you just need to set it up right and take decent care of it... but their decks just suck, straight up. get an Alpine.

the JL 1000/1 isn't a 4 channel amp. But yea high end Alpine and Pioneer is great. Eclipse or even a Denon would just own.

alpine for ultimate quality, pioneer for decent quality and more riceyness.

Alpine all the way... I have this same deck and I absolutely love it... not a complaint about it... OK, maybe 1, it doesn't display the clock and CD-Text info that the same time :nut: :dunno: :D

:werd: the only 1 thing i dont like is the time and text not displayed at the same time. other than that i like my alpine deck the most out of the kinds i have owned (pioneer, rockford, alpine)

I bought my CDA-9827 brand new (when it just came out) for $320....you can snag one for a lot less now. I always deal through soundsaround, not a single problem. Firoz is the guy I deal with. Awesome deals.

Alpine is a good deck......but I prefer Kenwood. I know I know....some of you will be razzing me on this one.....but I have the 915 In-dash DVD player. Yes that is well over the limit of $300 that Gromet is looking at......but the Kenwood decks have come a long way from where they were not too long ago. And I am really liking my deck.

Best thing to do is to head to crutchfield.com and check out the reviews on different decks around the $200 - $250 US in price and see what people have to say. But of course it is always a good idea to shop around and take a look at lots of different decks first hand and try them out at the stores and see all the different features that they have.

I've actually got a Kenwood KDC-MPV619 from two years ago, and it looks great and sounds really really nice. I fuckin love it, actually, the 54 color backlight is sweet at night when it changes smoothly from red to green to blue to white to yellow .... and it sounds very nice. my only problem with it, is there is no non-fading preouts, but the model up from the 619 has sub outs and some more EQ options. it has never skipped on me, either, and has really fast loading times.
I might still take some Alpine decks over the Kenwood for the built in crossover network and stuff.

You have four 12" subs and you don't know that sony makes shitty products? Sounds like you don't care about sound quality anyways.

You're not going to find ANY decent headunit for under $300...

My last Alpine was nice but my new Eclipse is better. It doesn't have 200 useless "toys" like visualization.
