why do amps power better under different ohm? will a infinity 1000wat sound good with a sony amp mono 1100?, cuz the specs on the amp say it will only put out 500 watts at 2ohms

if there is less resistance, than more power (and better sound) will follow

actually, the lower the ohm load the amp sees the lower the sound quality. at higher power levels, amps aren't as capable of damping the subs, giving a sloppier sound that is mostly noticable on quick pitch changes... on some amps, like my old Sony, it would make odd pops in the sound that shouldn't be there and on the JL 500/1 I had for awhile, when I ran it at 2 ohms instead of 4 there was some noticeable lag on those same transitions.
always try for a higher final load... if you have the choice between 1,000 watts at 4 ohms or 1,000 watts at 1 ohm, always take the one that makes that power into 4 ohms.
