Check out BMW's used car listings (http://www.bmw.ca/english/products_services/precert/locator-fs.html). If you buy privately, I'm sure you'll get a better price than getting it from a dealer.

there is a blue 97 M3 selling for 39k i believe. its somehwere in www.canadatrader.com i saw it less than a week ago

but for 30k u can definitly get a 98 328I

If she wants a coupe find a nice late model ('97 or '98) E36 328is or try to buy an '00 323ci for $30k. I'd rather have a more powerful, lower mileage E36 than a rough E46. IMO, the best value (for an all-arounder that you aren't going to mod) is a '99 E46 323i.

sorry to interject on your sales pitch max...but by purchasing a 98, 99 E36, chances are its going to have alot less problems down the road compared to a early gen E46...as it is the end of the E36 evolution, and most of the kinks are worked out...i bought the first year E36, and its got quite a bit of probs at 150,000km, also i think the E36 328 should be faster than E46 323

Yes I had a first year E36 too and it had quite a few problems.....mostly minor stuff that built up over time......and yes the E36 328 is faster.....

As for reliability.....unless you are buying a used E36 from the dealer you are going to have no warranty whatsoever......whereas you still get the manufacturers warranty with the E46.....

Last but not least.....styling......new E46 rock! haha
