i almost slammed into a deer on the highway. jumped out of ditch. was going about 110km/h. so becareful on the highway guys. oh yeah, and thoes $5 plastic POS things you buy at canadian tire to put on your front bumper to warn animals don't work at all. if you have them, take them off cause they are useless.

Carefull too because if you hit an animal and you only hav liability insurance, you're screwed if your car's damaged.

they are plastic whistle's with a high frequency that only animals can hear. it's suppose to warn them so they don't jump out on the highway. after what happened today i can say they don't work. what a waste of $5. oh yeah, $5 is for a package of 2

Battery powered? And constantly going? Cool idea... too bad it apparently doesn't work!

I think they're actually just like a whistle....powered by air...your car has to be moving for them to apparently 'work'

I was told the province has a insurance policy that pays out if you run into wildlife. Possible urban legend?

On my way back from BC I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for wildlife!

I hit a small deer a couple years ago, didn't do much damage didn't even bother trying to get insurance to cover it (way less than my deductible anyways). I've also heard about the provinces fund for fixing cars that hit animals, have no idea if its true though.

I think thats only if you don't report it so they can come and clean it up.
