Hey guys and gals,

I'm buying a turbo in the next two weeks. I was going to order online but am wondering if you guys know of any local or Canadian options. Just someone who can put together a turbo to my specs for me.

Big thumbs up for Alamo here in Calgary...But most of our sponsors...ie. Speedtech Racing Development can get you most anything your heart desires...speak to Allan there...403-250-7751

but if you are looking for used...you can find some on Beyond...

I'd also check out Autodream for something used.

Paul & Marvin are good shit and will help you find something.

They usually have a bunch of used turbos. they did last weekend anyways :dunno:

I know exactly what I want but it will be a custom build... I am not asking what turbo I should buy here, so it doesn't matter what car, motor or internals I am going to use it on! ;)

Anyhow, in case one of you guys rebuilds turbos, I am looking for a T3/T04e hybrid with ball bearing center section, oil & water cooled with a 46 trim compressor wheel, .48 A/R turbine housing and a stage III turbine wheel. I'm not really flexible on the specs.

So far my best quote is about $1400 which seems like too much, I can order a GT series turbo for less any day of the week. I think this turbo build should be worth less than a grand canadian if I can find someone who isn't ripping me off.

I'll contact Alamo since I have heard about them before.

what does it matter? considering the exhaust housing you are going for is a .48, i really don't think spool up will be an issue (although i still question the stage 3 exhaust wheel).

What does it matter? Well, for $800 I want to know if its ball bearing or not because obviously I want to know what I am paying for.

Spool up time is always an issue, this is a street driven car and it will never see the drag strip.

I just want to buy it not argue about it. I have specific goals and this turbo will meet them, 'nough said. If I am dissatisfied with it I will buy another, and so whoever sells me it will get repeat business too!

I got one of these through legendboy and it works great so far fully spooled up by 4000 rpm.

Spooled up by 4000??? how much boost are you running. That isn't that fast.

Boost starts to build around 3K fully built at 4K. Running only 7Psi for now. I know people with smaller setups and they don't fully spool up much quicker than mine.

How do you know how fast his car is based on when his turbo spools?

i think he means spool time of the turbo, not car fast

I agree, there's no way you'll get a ball bearing turbo for 800.The option is like an extra $400 in the turbonetics price list.

Turbonetics is not a true ball bearing turbo! They use only one ball bearing on the exhaust side and a regular bearing on the compressor. Compare apples to apples, also the GT series turbo is non rebuildable, the turbo I run is one of the only ones that is a Dual ball bearing and rebuildable. Saving a few $$$ now well cost you double when its time for a rebuild.

have you thought about a t28?

its a ball bearing turbo and its known to be able to withstand hp up to 450.

good choice and you can find used ones for $400-700 depending in the quality its in.

Yeah I was thinking closer to $1000 in the first place, but $1400 is too much when I can find the non-bearing turbo for about $600 (possibly rebuilt). You're the guy who mentioned the $800 figure not me!

I may just get a GT turbo after all.
