The best thing they have going for them is RWD. The 2.4L engine is a truck engine so it has decent low RPM torque but no top end power. The 5 speed is sloppy but ample. These are not fast or quick cars stock. You can drop in an SR engine but that will cost extra $.

Looks are a matter of personal taste but the later models look much better than the ugly & outdated looking versions with pop-up headlights.

Reliability is average for the class. Not as good as a Honda or Toyota.

The only reason I would recomend one to anyone is if they absolutely had to have a RWD import.

I like pop-up headlights...

but pretty much everything heavD mentioned is bang on...with an SR swap or RB swap there is a lot of potentil, but that potential comes with a price tag...there are a few KA-T's rolling around and one on this forum...

like any car really it has its ups and dows...right now with the whole drifitng craze the prices on these types of cars is a lil higher than normal...but aside from that can be a fun car to boot around in...

if you are desperately looking for a RWD car...take a look at MK III Supra's...for a lil more dough you can already start off Turboed and go from there...

Get a Miata, and HOPE everyone thinks your just driving your girlfriends car. Don't get me wrong, they are one of the best autocross cars around, but no matter how much of a track whore it is, it is and will always be Chick Car #1

240's are nice but they are little demons.

first one thing goes wrong, than another than you swap the engine and finally your car is basically brand new after $2000 in repairs before the swap.

Brakes are a big thing on these guys, the old calipers seiz easily, and unless you do it yourself it cost an arm and a leg.

Fun car but a miata, those things are just fun all around if its not your daily driver

IMO 240's are great cars, but if ur looking to have a fast car with a limited budget, it may not be the best idea.

are you looking for a project car or daily driver? how much money would u have to spend on it ?

Or buy a red 240sx keep it relatively stock (exept maybe a muffler and ghetto dryer vent intake) and put poser SE-R badging on it. :hitit:

If you want a real bang for your buck mullet racer get a 300zx z31, or a 5.0 Mustang.

Don't buy a 240, theyre terrible cars. Buy a 5.0L or a porsche 944.

s14's are nice, take a look at this one. Don't mind the owner though, seriously who poses like this next to their car.

everyone is right in saying the ka24de is what is holding the 240sx back. Go KA24DE+T or SR20DET (s14 or at least s13 blacktop).

Why "at least" s14 or s13 blacktop? Enlighten me.

these motors are newer and GENERALLY have lower mileage :D

That is, unless you're planning on doing a complete buildup right away.
