Looks like the top of Haleakala volcano. Sometimes it can be below freezing up there. You can also rent bikes and cook down the mountain.

The road to Haleakala is amazing! Last time i was there we rented a car and drove up there 4 days in a row. When we returned the car they thought the tires had been swapped out because they were so worn out. Haha.
