I also have no doubts it will be a great game, so far every title developed by microsoft has not disspointed me, expecially in racing games, Rallysport being my fave

:werd: Rallisport Challenge 2 looks better than GT3. I have seen full motion video of Forza and it looks to be the nicest looking racer on Xbox and it will be online. GT4 has taken so long because after initial showings many complained that it looked worse than GT3, then they had to scrap multiplayer because they couldn't get it to work at a good framerate, the game has been plagued by developemental problems so it has alot to prove.

I'll have both games when they come out so it will be interesting to compare.

There's no way those graphics came from a machine resembling a PS1... they're by no means bad. The surfaces are clean and bump mapped and the detail is constant throughout the scene... looks like a new game for sure.

Theres a movie out of a porche driving in one of the Maple tracks and it looks glorious. Almost at RSC2 levels IMO. Are you guys playing the Fora Demo?

I'd have to agree... Screens from GT4 and even 3 look better IMO... I thought this was the game called racer... Check up www.racer.nl it's a good free racing sim, I swear I thought the screens were from this game... Over quality looks kinda poor for a machine that's supposed to be more powerful than the PS2... I still have big hopes and expectations of GT4.

Kamen, this is a common problem actually. The game looks good, but not realistic. It's a very cartoonish look to it, so it doesn't look real like GT4 does. I don't know why or how, but the cars and the track styles don't match up right so it gives the game a funny feel. Meanwhile, GT4 is rockin away...

The difference here is the xbox screen shots are raw, no fancy photo mode or doctored screens like the GT4 ones.

The screens don't do it much justice really. Its true it has a different look than GT4. I honestly think both will be good. However GT4 dropping online mode was a big mistake. The Forza online mode is huge. You can even play your career online. :thumbsup:

I think it'd be wrong to say that the rendering engine looks bad instance the car models do look very high detail, from the shots one could even argue that perhaps the models are of somehigher order curved surface rather than just polys, but it lacks qualities that todays rendering engines have to make them look more 'photorealistic'. Take a look at the actual photo on zedeg's sig. The specular highlight is very pronounced and continues up on the windshield. While the GT4 shot doesn't have a very bright hilight the weather seems over cast. On a sunny day one might expect to have similarly bright hilights on the car I think this is pretty evident on the 6th pic from the top. The hilight is there but perhaps not as bright as one would think it should be. The coloring on the cars seems to look 'cartoonish' as well. It seems like there's too much diffuse component in the car. Not enough shininess. Of course it's better than my best work ever and it doesn't look bad at all, just not like GT4.

I agree because I actually think GT4 has a more photorealistic look to it. But GT4 uses trickery for its lighting, but it works well. Forza has real time lighting. The end effect however is GT4 looks more realistic. But I will be playing Forza. :D

Photo mode can be used in game, you know that right? You can watch a replay, then when you get to a point you like you can render it into a high-resolution photo. It's very simple.

Plus we picked us up a ps2 slim last night so now I will be playing both games. woot!

Come on guys I've owned both consoles since they came out and I don't know if I've ever seen a PS2 game that looked as good as even average Xbox games. PS2 games including GT3 have the "jaggies" and "flicker" that you rarely see on Xbox.

Agreed.

The PS2 pales in comparison to the Xbox in sheer cpu/gpu power.

GT4 is limited by the PS2, it is a huge bottleneck, you gotta know Yamauchi-san would love to bring the GT series to the XBox. The level of customization and tuning will be far greater in Forza than GT4, in addition to vehicle damage and ONLINE play.
