American Commercials

I don't know how many of you get a chance to flip the TV on during the day, but I occasionally turn the tv on in my office and watch some while I'm working during the day and I am in total shock at the commercials they play, specifically on higher channels like 37, 40, ect.

It seems like every second commercial is for some unheard of college preaching the same courses (with or without a high school degree!) or some "Get this unknown internet for 5$ a month!" commercial and they make the entire american population sound like the dumbest country in the world.

One in particular comes to mind. It's an advertisement for a heating and refridgeration college. Good enough trade to get into, but they have this hick who can't make a coherant english sentence if his life depended on it as their spokesperson. His last line of the commercial is "Get you a cool job, as an air conditioning and refidgeration specialist"

I know there are alot of intelligent american people out there, I'm friends with a few of them and you see a lot of them on the television and read about them all the time, but why all these advertisements that make the whole country look SOOO bad?

Demographics. The people watching TV while the rest of us are at work ARE mostly the unwashed, unemployeed masses (and ad rates are cheaper because of it). At night, the ads on those same channels are for the wealthy employed consumers.

haha I know the commerical you are talking about.. We all know that trades are an important sector of our economy today but this commerical is absolutely ridiculous. They play them back to back on channel 40 in the early morning. I never really see them at night so they are definetly playing to the unemployed, unschooled demographic.
