It's prolly best to just buy it new. Chances are, if someone has one for sale, they'll want close to its price new. So might as well just buy it new and get an extended waranty on it. just my 2 cents.

that's right..

i didn't know costco sells them for that price. that's quite surprising considering that apple forces it's retailers to fix their prices at whatever they choose. ever wonder why they're the same price no matter where you get them? that's why..

anyways djayz, feel free to pm me whenever you find out. thanks!

well they do man, im just saying, if you buy a newone from costco, i HIGHLY recommend getting the warranty from apple...if you buy a used one, even if its BRAND new you cant get a warranty from apple, but by all means if u find a better deal on here go for it. Just feelin strong about this cuz i had a buddy who bought a used ipod for roughly 50 dollars less than retail, and within 2months it died, his loss..

Take care

i thought it was supposed to be fixed prices too

but i went to the chapters down in chinook, and saw ipod mini's for like 349.99
20 bucks more than normally at like fs or bb

they are definitely price fixed and i've confirmed this with several of the apple reps i've spoken to. retailers can lose their dealer status with apple for breaching this policy so i don't know how costco is pulling it off. unless they aren't getting their stock via apple..

the reason you saw the mini's for $349.99 is because they are still charging the MP3 levy even though they're not supposed to anymore. (court overturned the original levy.) the price of the mini used to be $334.99 + $15 levy, thus $349.99 total. without the levy, the consumer is only liable for $334.99 but apple dropped the prices to $329.99 just to make it a better number.

Sorry to sway the thread off topic, but apparetnly the ipod mini color with a 5gb hard drive is coming out in the next month or so and a 20gb to follow in the next 6, its almost certian to have a full color screen.

i've heard the same thing.. the 4g 20gb is already officially discontinued and the mini and 40gb will be following shortly thereafter.

if you are looking to buy one now, at least wait until the new ones are announced so that the prices will drop. this is the only time ipod's ever go down in price so might as well take advantage of it..
