View Full Version : How many times have you hit Fuel Cutoff?

I've only hit mine once, at SS Race City. I now know I can do 83mph in third at 7100rpm. Redline is 6600 for me btw.

Engines w/ vtec might benifit more by keeping it in a gear, over an engine similar to minem which is a little less peaky.

I'm never reving that high again, unless I had cams that made it worthwhile to go up there, in which case, I would have an upgraded valvetrain.

never had a car with fuel cutoff. Used to take the 350 in my old Z28 (1978 4bbl with headers) up to 6500 all the time. Wife took it to 8000+ rpms once (by accident). Alternator broke but nothing else. Tough motors.

I've hit fuel cut off many time on my old ECU. It used to get cut off at 7200 rpm. Now its set to 8500 and I just hit it once because I couldnt get any traction

i dont even know if my car has a rev limiter...the tach runs out of numbers before the limiter (if there is one) engages

I hit fuel cut on average of 3-4 times a week.

I've lost count. Running solo 2, I hit it fairly frequently (once or twice per run per event). Sometimes its faster to just sit on the limiter than to shift :D

i dont think i can hit it with automatic hehe.. cause it changes gears at 6200 rpm when floored.. tried once when on a clogged freeway and HOV lane was going 60mph , me at like 15-25 in the normal lanes and i had friend in car so i saw a free spot and floored it thru 1st and 2nd gear til i was at 65 :) amazing how i can do 40mph in 1st gear

YEah My rev Kimiter broke or something CuZ i used to hit it so much befor it was yeng yeng yeng, you knw when you hit it but now its just YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN

no rev fux it sucks it miss it, the only way i can get it to that again is if I govern the car but thatts @ 190 and not all thats safe andFunto do

At the track I can almost make it down the 1/4 in 3rd gear. I tried pushing it all the way and sure enough......didn't make it.
After that little episode I went out and went throught each gear, besides 5th, to see where my limits were.

I had always thought that it was an ignition cut and not a fuel cut. This makes more sense to me to avoind going super lean at high RPMs. Ignition cut would just dump fuel through the engine and out the exhaust. That would cool things off too inside the engine, but it might get a little hot behind the exhaust.

I've only hit my limiter once in second as I was merging onto a highway and it scared the crap out of me cause I lost power so quickly. I haven't hit the limit on my new chip yet... come to think of it I don't even know what it's set at.

Bosch injection cuts every other injection pulse, cutting the spark would cause afterfires in the exhaust. very bad for emissions and turbos

very handy in cars that do not have shift lights

Haha, my Bosch Jerks my car like a MF when I hit fuel cut. is it bad for the car cause it feels so violent.

I hit the shift buzzer that my car comes with sometimes. It comes on at the 7k. Whenever i have a girl in my car they think someones honking at me when i hit it.


At the track I can almost make it down the 1/4 in 3rd gear

I managed to hold it in 3rd one time, but i had just hit 8k at the finish line at 85mph i think.

I've experienced fuel cut off at about 6900 or so with redline of 6500.....i've only hit it a few times
