Boston Pizza, yo yo!!! :bigpimp:

Domino's and Little Caesar just feel like toppings on cardboard all the time, never liked them.

Pizza hut is ok but big :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow with the INSANE amount of grease that their pizzas are covered in. The dish is glistening, the box is soaked right through. :barf: :barf: :barf: No thank you.

BP's usually gets my vote cuz they have some pretty original topping combos, and it's nice that you can get pasta too, but otherwise, Panago has a pretty good selection too and the dips are great. Both are clean, non-greasy, and have a large selection.

Tom's House of Pizza. I love their Pizza.

Atlas Pizza is pretty good too. Although I find they use too much garlic.

There was a place in the London Town Square that had some kick ass pizza too. I forget their name. They were kicked out because Sobey's wanted more parking.

Chicago Deep-dish.
The Galaxy is the best imo.

GTS Jeff
02-05-2005, 12:52 PM
Dominos - low quality, thin pizza, its all dough and sauce
Pizza Hut - the original grease, low quality ingredients, although it still tastes good in a sickly fast food way like McDs
Pizza 73 - Are you serious? Only fit for elementary school "pizza days"
Papa Johns - incredibly greasy
BPs - decent, but way too expensive. wtf is $25/medium?

Panago - pure awesome. all ingredients are obviously higher quality, good crust, and they have some pretty sweet combos for the non-traditional pizzas. philly steak is my fav followed by mushroom melt.

Weapon_R
02-05-2005, 12:55 PM
yeah I think that pizza 73 is truly one of the worst places to eat pizza in Calgary.

And I agree with much of the above, i'm going to try Panago's (never been there before)

I would have never even heard about Vern's pizza it it wasn't for a little 'incident' at a hotel I was at. It turned out some lady used to be the owner of the Verns in Red Deer and was bragging about how awesome the pizza was, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

The toppings are like an inch thick and when the pizza comes, it weighs like a 5 pound weight in the box, I kid you not.

Alberta has so many awesome Pizza Chains. After living in Ontario I really realised how much I took it for granted. No pizza 73, no papa johns, no panago, they just recently got Boston Pizza. You'd think with so many Italians there somebody would have some sort of idea on how to make a pizza.:dunno:

02-05-2005, 11:43 PM
I think that Pizza 73 quality/taste varies a bit by location because they are all franchises. I have had pizza from a few of their NE locations and I stopped eating it completely after a few bad experiences. It was bad enough that I didnt even consider eating there for a long time. They recently opened a new one near my house in the SW, and one night at like 2 AM because of the lack of choice I tried it. I was surprised that it wasnt that bad. It will never be as good as Panago or Boston Pizza and places like that, but can you really expect the best pizza to come from a place that is open til 4/5 AM in some locations? I don't know about you guys but if I was a cook making pizza at 3 AM it wouldnt be my best work.

I've heard mixed reviews about Pizza 73. I have a feeling that each location must be different in quality. I live in the far SE (McKenzie Towne) and its pretty damn good "delivery grade" pizza and their Golden Crispy wings are great too (taste like KFC).

For good "restaurant grade" pizza I prefer Tom's House of Pizza.

For lunch: Coco brooks, tonnes of variety and it's greasily delicous.

For Supper: Panago, love the crust and the toppings are really good. You can usally get 2 mediums for under $20.

For curing my greasy cravings: Pizza hut double pep. Yum yum.

Pizza Hut, considering I'm a manager there hahaha. And we don't put olive oil on our crusts, its a garlic butter spray and it only goes on the stuffed crusts and our p'zones. Our pan and hand tossed crusts are both served the way they come out of the oven, no sprays or nothing added.

Chicago Deep Dish...man, if you ever want a tonne of cheese, just order extra cheese from Chicago Deep Dish...

Which Sammy's? Cuz I wasn't too satisfied with the one in Cedarbrae....and if anyone said Chicago, next time you buy one, feel the bottom of the box....it's a worse greaseball than pizza hut (at least the one on Haddon Road)
