Yep, tried installing the new one yesterday, but something is bent somewhere and I dunno where. But yeah, the broken headlight is currently in my car and the new one is in my room.....

On the same note, what could bend possibly when you hit a big ass bump on just the front left wheel and nothing else (going ~60km/hr) ??

Took the bumper off and everything looks fine...what's funny is when I try to fit the new headlight in, its tough, but I can get the old one in and out easily.

You know??...for years and years I stayed away from Hondas...fearing teh drivers were heartless, cold, VTEC Brainwashed losahs...thenIi met a group of friends who showed me the "darkside", a group of people that I grew to respect so much...that I looked up to...well not all of them physically, (Kevin), but trusted...

Chris, Calvin, Kevin, Richard, all of you guys...you meant so much to me...all I wanted was to belong to your lil "APC< or CPC, or whatever we all deem to call it...but nooooooooooooooooooo, I had to get hated on, and de-filed, and de-nounced, and de-liced...but that's cool...I guess I was always right about Honda people...

How difficult is it to change rotors? i've read up and said that the philips screws that hold them in place, might need to be impacted out...anyone know if you can just turn by hand, or a little hammering???

rc2002

Hey Chris, do the blade rims have more clearance than the SH rims? I wonder if they would clear, say, spoon calipers without spacers...

And Skyline_Addict, CMS is having killer deals on Konig wheel/tire packages. The holes are really good looking wheels. http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77614

Ryder23, some hammering will be required to get the screws out. Getting them back in tight is a bitch too. Which rotors did you get?

I went to dealership, they said sometimes they come out with ease, other times, you really need to rail on it. They said getting back in, you just tighten them, not too tight or anything, and heat from rotors makes em stay in place (reason there so hard to get out). I just picked up some rear pads today (nothing fancy) but my rears are in severe need of replacing. I havnt decided on rotors yet for the fronts. Rear i might just go with something oem, but maybe a more generic brand since the stealership wanted 200$ for rear rotors, and 100$ for rear pads. I picked up some for around 50$, and rotors are around 90$ (for semi decent). But fronts i'm leaning towards brembos (blanks or slotted, any input on that?) And axxis pads i believe.

Thanks guys

rc2002
02-25-2005, 02:03 PM
The screws don't tighten back in very well though. The shop I went to didn't want to chance it so they hammered them back in.

Slotted will eat away faster at your pads, but performance is way better. I think Axxis is really good value as far as pads go. Kinda like the Kumho 712's of brakes. haha.

ryder_23
02-25-2005, 02:05 PM
Do slotted offer alot of gains?

Will brembo blanks be alright?

How fast will they eat away?

ie: last 1 year, 1/2 year, 2track sessions? few auto x?

Just gonna weigh to see if there worth paying 100$ for pads, as fast as they'll chew threw them.

How about cross drilled?

rc2002
02-25-2005, 02:18 PM
Cross drilled are prone to cracking. And for a stock sized rotor, I'm don't like the look of it. But to each his own I guess. I'm not sure if it's my pads or rotors (probably both) but the difference from stock is like night and day.

For spirited daily driving on slotted rotors, I'd say that pads are the least of your worries. I've had mine for about 10000km and there's still tons of pad left.

Do you have brembos? and where did you get yours from?

NSX calipers + Prelude bracket + Prelude Rotor
NSX calipers + NSX bracket + NSX Rotor
NSX calipers + NSX bracket + Prelude Rotor + shims for pads

Also, NSX caliper brake pads are the same as legends and Preludes

So, i started doing my rear pads today. discovered my back left caliper is nice and seized :thumbsdow and somehow during operation, caliper moved out about 1/5 of a mm, and couldnt get rear pads back on (no one hit brake, pulled ebrake up or anything). Anyways, my car is pooched until i get a new caliper (in today around 1pm). Is this common? its a 97 and wouldnt expect it, but the car wasnt really driven before i had it, so the rear brakes havntbeen touched since the factory, maybe a possible reason :dunno:

anyways, big hassle. Anyone have experience with changing rear calipers? I've done lots of brakes, and i got the jist of what to do, just wondering if you guys got any tips. thanks...

Primer_Drift
02-26-2005, 03:42 PM
You may have to turn the piston in by hand to get it back on. Take a pair of needle nose pliers, grab the top of the piston (should have an X pattern in the top) and turn it clockwise.

edit: Oh and dont pull up on the ebrake, or press the brake with the caliper off, the piston could pop right out lol

buh_buh
02-26-2005, 03:53 PM
yeah and if the piston does come out, its a BITCH to get it back in haha. But there's a special tool for turning the piston back into the caliper you could use, you could probably get it at crappy tire if your having troubles with pliers.

I've always wanted to expand the EPC into more of an Alberta Prelude Club, from conversations with Wes (............net). That's why I've always accepted prelude enthusiasts from across Alberta into the EPC.

For just myself to spearhead the notion of doing this is just impossible. However, with a team of administrators for support and some start up cash, it is possible.

I'm interested to see if the APC gets off the ground...

With regards to your meet/cruise/photoshoot, are you willing to invite the EPC?

Well as far as an Alberta Prelude Club goes... I can't really speak for everyone else, but for me personally I just want to go to some meets and shoot the shit once in a while. Sponsorships from shops, special funding for events, etc isn't really something I care that much about... I just want to meet some new people and have some fun thats all.

But if you guys want to give er a go, you have my moral support. Good luck

haha yeah thats why I cut one of the bars.
Now it doesn't spring up, but holds itself up once its up all the way. Ghetto Macgyver mods!!

Make sure you have a friend holding the bar or your wearing goggles or something cuz I almost got shot in the eyeball.

well you could if you actually disconnected it, but I tried everything and it wouldnt come out so I used a dremel and cut it. Its just a metal rod, and would probably be like $5 to replace at the dealership if I wanted to put my OEM trunk back on.

I'm going to take a closer look at the trunk mechanisms this weekend to see if there is a way to remove everything.

I will also look into buying replacements parts from honda just in case I have to do what Kevin did.

I'm not sure, i beleive you would have to order it from Honda. There is a picture of it in the Helms manual too.
