Just wondering how many people have had their moonroof motor go? Mine closes so pitifully slooooowwwww...... as well does anyone else have issues with the trim around the windshield, it does this funky thing after you wash the car where it lifts up and refuses to lay flat even if you fold it under again.

Was just curious as the car needs to go in for a bunch of minor issues all under warranty still.

buh_buh
03-08-2005, 06:14 PM
my sunroof skips.
Honda will just lube the rails up and send you on your way. But it'll happen again in a couple weeks.

May as well take it in while you still have the warranty

CRXguy
03-08-2005, 06:27 PM
I'm not sure if this works on the Prelude, but on CRX's you just take the switch out and clean the backside. Dirt builds up and causes the switch to act funky. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but it works. Got this from Honda-Tech.

Sweet, have to love those temporary fixes. The damn thing closes so slow it almost doesn't move at all, it gets to the point where you have to grab it and and push it along before it gets going. Can't be good for the motor.

buh_buh
03-08-2005, 06:31 PM
if your motor's dying you should just take it to the dealer so they'll give you a new one. That way you don't have to clean it up yourself haha.

Nope, works perfect. Still slides and closes like it's brand new. I had it replaced in 2002. It had actually started to stop working or got stuck while i was closing it. I had to bang on the sunroof to get it going.:nut:

I dont have a problem with my sunroof opening or closing but I do get the "clunk" noise when it closes.

I usually try to give the sunroof rails a good cleaning once a year and a heavy dose of lithium grease.

Just vouching for the clutch noice when the car is cold...But i havn't noticed it for a long time now..And also...my sunroof opens and closes fine as for the speed...but when it closes..it seems like it's missaligned....kinda loud when it closes..But other days, it's really quiet.
If you guys are still up for a meet..I'll try make it down for it..but no promises. Might have to take the Type R spoiler off before i go..(sounds like you folk are non-spoiler kinda people :D , but each to his own, i like it for now)

X_plorer
03-11-2005, 06:20 PM
Depends on the spoiler, I have the sort of whale-tail one on mine, the wide low one that sits off the back of the trunk. Looks awesome. As for the wings, kind of iffy on those. Especially those double decker ones.

MM99lude
03-11-2005, 07:32 PM
i dont much like the WW spoiler. the best spoiler for the lude is by far the mugen or OEM one.

But i really do like it without a spoiler.

I think i'll be sporting that once something else comes in;)

I have the OEM spoiler but I also like the mugen replica whale tale. With my gemini CF trunk coming soon, I'll be spoilerless...

For the grille, I swapped my oem one with the 97 one. I had it painted to match. I looks so much cleaner than the honeycomb grille.

Mugen bumper insert will only fit on Mugen bumper... so you pretty much have to get a real Mugen bumper to use that insert (which comes with the kit and not sold separate)

Did you check out the Fibre Images hood at TW? That's a sweet deal (it's below their cost). Most people are selling cheaper brands for just a touch less than that....

And about the paint. If you're painting anyway, you might want to consider buying a kit. You'll probably wind up with one sooner or later! hehe. And you can part back to bone stock if you don't paint your stock parts. My $0.02

how reliable and safe is really dependent on who's tuning your car, and not really the kit.

I know Chris is going to do his himself, but I'm taking my girlfriends' to a shop, and I want to make sure she's not going to get ripped off on labour charges. It's a straight tiptronic swap.
