a Neon question?

I was wondering what you guys think I should be able to do in the 1/4 mile with my current mods, and a full weight redux??

Mod list is in the bottom of post. Although I know if I had slicks/drag radials I would be way faster.

is it a SOHC or DOHC and sedan or coupe?

Atleast a 9.4 secs in the quarter mile... Anything more and there is probably something wrong with your engine.

Should ask this in a neon forum. The parts you listed are bolt ons so it's difficult to judge.

The question is how fast are you running now? Not all cars are built the same - some may need a little tuning and others a lot.

I am running low 16's stock, don't know with all the bolt-ons.

Also it is the DOHC motor, with 150hp, 150TQ

The green one was a 4-door, ugly color, and I wanted to start fresh. So I sold it and got a new blue 2-door. By the time my new one is done this summer, should run mid 13's N/A.

plus
AF/X Bobble strut
Crane 18 Cams
Crane Valve Springs
Massive P&P(head, and mannifold)if I don't use ITB's
Compression bumped to 12.1:1
PT cruiser valvetrain upgrade
Dynomax 3" cat back exhaust
AF/X long tube header

hopefully get mt ITB's up and running by this summer also

I wouln't go as big as a 3 inch exhaust if you're staying NA. Go with 2.5 inch mandrel like I've got. It would sound great on your car too.

Bumping compression with new pistons? Or a good 'ol shaved head? :D

2.5 inch is actually too small for my overall goals. I talk to Scott Mohler, and he said 3" is perfect for blown out N/A motor.

As for compression I will be using new pistons, not sure which ones yet, that's why I didn't specify that. Also I will be shaving the head 0.20.

hmmm hope you guys dont mind me bringing the "14 second neon" up again but hey man if you can do it all motor all the power to ya. :thumbsup: the chances of some OTHER neon drivers doing that, slim to none.

Neons range from 129-133 torque stock.

Can't say I've ever heard the torque that high for stock. After all the NEON isn't an AWD.

i was referring to another member and HIS 14 sec neon. thtas awesome for those neon drivers who can get there car to do that, it wasnt made as a slam towards neon drivers. just thought id throw my opinion in there. about the sohc 240 hp car lol.

IMO, you'll need a whole lot more although it looks like your still researching. Compression goal is too high for the parts that you listed but I see it's not a full list (injectors, stage II axle, afx ECU / TECIII, pistons ....).

I'd aim for smaller goals so as to get the car tuned right... But that's my opinion.
