Exchanging Canadian Money for US

Does anyone know where the best place is tp exchange
Canadian Money into US.

The banks charge a stupid exchange rate, especially when you need over $10000, it really adds up?

Money order is probably your safe bet. All banks and exchange places relatively charges the same, roughly 2%. If you need to deal in US$, better open up a US$ account.

yea...best off opening up a USD bank account...

I use my TD Waterhouse USD trading account. U can do currency transfers and their rate is much closer to the spot rate then any bank would offer you for transfer.

I think paypal might do conversions, like put it into your paypal CDN account and then transfer to a US account. Might be worth checking their rate too.

Get a USD credit card. Then you get the spot rate at the time of the transaction.

Even Canadian CCs always give very fair spot rate exchange rates when you do transactions in USD.

:thumbsdow Paypal gives shitty rates.

I don't believe you are going to find a much better rate than the bank.

I work for MasterCard and we charge 2.5% on top of the exchange rate. I'd say a USD credit card would be your best bet.

If I were to get a money order to exchange canadian to american, where would I go to get the best exchange rate?? at a bank or a place like money mart???
