Motor Trend - 2006 Civic (http://motortrend.com/autoshows/coverage/112_chicago_auto_show/index2.html)

Honda displayed a Civic Si concept in Chicago, calling it a “strong indication of the styling and performance direction for an all-new production Civic Si” that will make its real-world debut at SEMA in November. A sneak peek of the sixth-generation Si, the concept features the latest generation of “intelligent” I-VTEC technology, as well as a 200-horsepower, 16-valve DOHC engine mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. A helical-type limited-slip differential helps improve launch traction and cornering performance, and 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels wrapped in 225/40R18 tires and four-wheel disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers improve handling. “The 2006 Civic Si Coupe will be the most powerful, fastest, and fun-to-drive Si we’ve ever put on the street and the Civic Si concept sets the direction in terms of its styling, package, and performance,” says John Mandel, Senior Vice President of American Honda. The 2006 Civic lineup will include a sedan and coupe, as well as fuel-efficient Hybrid and natural-gas powertrains when it comes to market in the fall.

wow!! this Si coupe actually looks pretty nice in my opinion. i'm assuming that since that this is the Si in the United States, this is the SiR in Canada?

I'll wait and see what engines they give us in North America. We know Europe & Japan will get the good engines but will we? If we get the 160hp 2.0L I would definately pass. If we get the RSX Type S 2.0 liter engine in the SiR, my interest is definately piqued.

I wonder if they are keeping the engine listed at 200hp to keep the RSX-S as the "premium model".

Audi/VW did something similar with the 1.8T engines.

Audi 1.8T TT/A4 = 190hp
VW 1.8T GTI/Jetta = 180hp

From what was discussed on www.vtec.net
That car is pretty much production ready
There will not be Brembos though, and also the 18's will be substituted with 17" rims. And the spoiler is gonna be there...except it wont sit as high

And Im not sure about the body and stuff...but most likely not the black hood and roof. And the side moldings and stuff will probably be accessory added

Other than that though....since its now pushing a 200hp ivtec motor, the RSX is soon to be killed off

i doubt honda/acura would kill it off, its their best seller. I think they would more likely replace it with something a little bigger, and in a different genre, like the new eclipse or something.

the rsx is their best seller?
from what ive read its the slowest selling car in the acura lineup other than the nsx

i hope it doesnt get completely killed off but more likely some type of sporty acura coupe will replace it sooner or later

 If this is what the 2006 Civic will look like, i'm stoked!!

I have heard many things about them getting rid of the RSX too...I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens? :dunno:

weight will make or break this car!

the rear end is a little too "round" for my taste, i prefer bolder edges and outlines, and it wouldn't hurt if they made the exhaust a bit bigger

02-10-2005, 09:01 PM
no hatch :thumbsdow

ugly ass end :thumbsdow

but who knows, we'll have to see what the actual production model looks like. you know it wont have 18's, it wont have brembos, it wont have those fender flares, exhaust and it will be 4x4ing :dunno:

The million dollar question is: What will it sell for? I don't think you can get away without spending 25-27k for this new one, especially with that kind of engine and bold styling

:werd: the muffler is one of the nicest things on the car, would u prefer a 7" fart can instead?

They need to reply to the domestic manufacturers who are bringing out cars like the Cobalt SS and the SRT-4. Seems like this might be their answer.

oh hell no, but what they went for isn't much better IMO.

you know, everything on this car looks and sounds pretty good so far, but how much will all these toys cost? will this be a 40k civic when it's all said and done??
