I have a pair of Merrell sandals I have had since 1998 and they are still as good as new!! Very comfortable!! I wear them every day in the summer and a little in the winter too! :D

Generally shoes aren't meant to last past a year. Running shoes need to be replaced every 6 months or so (depending on the number of kms you put on them). Not just because of treadwear, but the cushioning breaks down as well.

Price != durability. Price usually correlates with performance.

Had Merrell's, but the heel would keep wearing out very fast and the hard liner would cut into my heel. Barely wore the treads down before that happened.

I have a pair of merrell hikers (Grand traverse 3's) that were ~$300 and they kick ass. I've had them for over 2 years now
